Aircraft refuelling and defuelling is controlled by a separate subsystem within the overall fuel system. The aircraft is fuelled by means of a refuelling receptacle that connects to the refuelling tanker. The control of fuel entry into each tank is undertaken by valves that are under the control of the fuel management system. 1, record 7, English, - aircraft%20refuelling

Methods of measuring evapotranspiration generally are divided into two categories : water budgeting and energy budgeting. The former method relies on accurate accounting of water flow into and out of a control area.... Energy budget methods rely on an accurate accounting of energy to and from the land surface and generally assume one-dimensional energy flow. Because the energy needed to evaporate water is relatively large(about 580 calories per gram), ET, or latent heat, can represent a significant component of the energy budget. Net radiation is the difference between incoming shortwave(solar) radiation and outgoing shortwave and longwave radiation, sensible heat is the energy transported from the land surface by air movement(convection), latent heat is the energy transported away from the surface by evaporating water, and soil/water heat is the heat that goes into changing the temperature of the soil or the water standing on the land surface. Any of these components may reverse in direction-for example, latent heat is added to the surface by condensation(dew formation), and net radiation is directed upward at night. 1, record 14, English, - energy%20budget%20method

[The] optical demultiplexer takes a stream of data moving at 40 gigabits per second and breaks it into separate lower-speed transmissions. The signals move through the loop of optical fiber in opposite directions. A train of control pulses and the clockwise pulses interact with one another because of certain nonlinear physical properties in the fiber. This interplay of light pulses changes the phase of some of the clockwise pulses. After the control pulse leaves the loop, the two pulse streams moving in opposite directions merge back at the signal splitter, emitting 10-gigabit-per-second pulses from one fiber and 30-gigabit-per-second pulses from the other. 2, record 18, English, - optical%20demultiplexer

The problem was solved with the next significant concept of airport lighting-the principle of "controlled intensity". Controlled or engineered intensity means that runway lights having practical pinpoint sources, with the beam aimed in the direction of the incoming pilot, could have the intensity of this beam controlled by either shifting the beam axis or more generally by varying the brightness of the lamp. Thus, high candle power is available to "punch through" heavy weather, but it is subject to brightness control for visual comfort. Note that this principle does not include illumination as none of this light strikes the runway surface. 1, record 28, English, - controlled%20intensity

Phares d'approche. 1, record 28, French, - intensit%C3%A9%20r%C3%A9glable

Dataflow is a generic term that pertains to algorithms or machines whose actions are determined by the availability of data needed for these actions. Algorithms which are expressed and executed in dataflow term are controlled by the arrival of data at operators(called actors). This is to be contrasted to control flow environments... Dataflow algorithms can be represented as directed graphs in which the arcs are data paths and the nodes are operations to be performed on the data tokens arriving on the incoming arcs. 1, record 29, English, - dataflow%20algorithm
