Since the increased focus on sustainability and renewable energy, curtailment is most associated with the reduction of energy production and thus infeed from renewable sources to the grid to balance supply and demand. Curtailment of renewable energy sources, which are often subject to variable output due to weather conditions, usually happens during high wind or solar energy production in combination with low demand because the grid risks overloading from the excess. 3, record 2, English, - energy%20curtailment

Direct producer connection refers to the establishment of shortened supply chains where the production unit(farmer, fisher, artisan) sells goods directly to the consumer or local institution, bypassing conventional intermediary distributors. This model fosters transparency regarding production methods and pricing, facilitating relational trust between those who grow food and those who consume it. Psychological thermogenesis : The psychological state may influence energy expenditure, as anxiety(or emotional state), anticipation, and acute stress stimulate adrenaline secretion, leading to increased heat production. For example, the energy cost of sitting at ease and sitting playing chess may differ by as much as two-fold—a difference that cannot entirely be attributed to muscular movement. PPA commonly begins as a subtle disorder of language, progressing to a nearly total inability to speak, in its most severe stage. The type or pattern of the language deficit may differ from patient to patient. The initial language disturbance may be fluent aphasia(i. e., the person may have normal or even increased rate of word production) or non-fluent aphasia(speech becomes effortful and the person produces fewer words). A less common variety begins with impaired word-finding and progressive deterioration of naming and comprehension, with relatively preserved articulation. 3, record 8, English, - primary%20progressive%20aphasia

Cover cropping was extensively used around the country in the first half of the 20th century. With the development of selective pre-and post-emergent herbicides, many farmers transitioned away from growing cover crops in the 1950s. In recent years the increased focus on soil quality and reducing chemical inputs has led to a renewed interest in the potential benefits of including cover crops in an agricultural production system. 1, record 13, English, - cover%20cropping

Tariff protection for canadian manufacturers. It was set in motion in the budget of 14 march 1879 after consultation with business interests. It was intended to be a nationalistic policy which would broaden the base of the canadian economy and restore the confidence of canadians in the development of their country. The tariff on most foreign manufactured goods was increased, affording substantial protection to canadian manufacturers. Equally important to the manufacturers were the reduced customs duties on the necessary raw materials and semi-processed products, which lowered their costs of production. 1, record 26, English, - National%20Policy

1, record 40, French, - nouvelle%20vari%C3%A9t%C3%A9%20de%20grains

This is accomplished when an X-ray tube is connected directly to the secondary windings of the high voltage transformer without any intervening rectifier. When the cathode is negative with respect to the anode, electrons will flow from the cathode filament to the anode and produce X-rays. During the next half of the electrical cycle, the anode is negative with respect to the cathode, and electrons could flow in the opposite direction. However, as long as the anode is kept cool, no electrons will be emitted from the anode, and no current will flow. The result is that of half wave rectification, where only half of the cycle of the high-voltage current is used to produce X-rays. 1, record 41, English, - self%2Drectifying%20tube
Record number: 41, Textual support number: 2 OBS
An obvious disadvantage of self-rectification, as opposed to supplying the X-ray tube with an already rectified direct current, is that exposure times must be increased since X-ray production occurs during only half of the time the current is applied. Secondly, repeated exposures could heat the anode to such an extent that electrons are also emitted from the anode. This could result in a reverse flow of electrons in the X-ray tube with excessive heating and destruction of the filament. 1, record 41, English, - self%2Drectifying%20tube

A typical multi-head breaker is a rubber-tired, self-propelled unit which carries 1, 000 to 1, 500 pound hammers mounted laterally in pairs. Half of the hammers are in a forward row and the remainder diagonally offset in a rear row so that there is continuous breakage from side to side. Each pair of hammers is attached to a hydraulic lift cylinder which operates as an independent unit. Each unit can develop between 1, 000 and 8, 000 foot pounds of energy depending upon drop height selected. The units can cycle at a rate of 30 to 35 impacts per minute. The typical machine is eight foot wide and carries twelve hammers eight inches in width. An extension wing, carrying two 1, 500 pound hammers, can be added to each side for a total breaking width of up to 13 feet. Pavement breaking can be as narrow as 2. 67 feet or increased in increments up to 13 feet. Paste backfill is defined as an engineered mixture of fine solid particles (with binder) and water, containing between 72% and 85% solids by weight. Particles in a paste mixture will not settle out of the mixture if allowed to remain stationary in a tank or in a pipeline. It can be placed in stopes with or without binder addition depending on the strength requirements for backfill. Improved pumping technology, environmental concerns and the need for a low cost/high strength fill in mines are driving mine operators to consider paste backfill as a tailings management and mine backfill alternative. The main advantages and disadvantages of a paste backfill system over a conventional hydraulic backfill plant are generally accepted as: ... higher strengths can be achieved with an equivalent cement content; drainage of water and slimes from the fill are minimized, reducing the need for bulkhead construction and extensive drainage works. This feature also reduces maintenance on sumps and mine de-watering pumps; in some cases, unclassified tailings can be used to make paste rather than just the coarse fraction as is the case for hydraulic backfill; shorter stope cycle times can be achieved because an equivalent strength can be achieved in a shorter time with paste backfill; paste backfill systems achieve lower porosities than conventional fill thereby increasing the tonnage of material that can be disposed of underground; and, since paste backfill is deposited as a non-segregated mass of backfill (because cement particles are not displaced by the internal movements of the draining water), more predictable strength properties for the fill can be achieved. 2, record 49, English, - paste%20backfilling%20system

Paste backfilling of mines. A number of mines are installing paste fill systems to replace the current sand fill method. The justification and economies of this conversion include : higher production levels(less wait for dewatering), increased grade of ore to the mill, decrease of stope ore left as pillars, improved haulage with the removal of excess moisture, increased filling rates, and a higher strength fill with less waiting time. The unique problems associated with paste fill applications range from extremely rapid system wear to paste separation and system blockage. 3, record 49, English, - paste%20backfilling%20system

Remblayage. 2, record 49, French, - syst%C3%A8me%20de%20remblayage%20par%20p%C3%A2te

Location effects involve the geographical allocation of existing resources. By and large, the recent literature on these effects focuses on the distribution of economic activity. One robust conclusion is that the relationship between concentration and liberalization is complex. At one extreme, prohibitive barriers lead to the total decentralization of production. At this extreme, liberalization is clearly accompanied by increased concentration of production in large markets. At the other extreme, location of production is evenly spread when there are no costs to trading, so liberalization near this extreme is accompanied by a decrease in concentration. Beyond this rather vacuous result, it is difficult to say much about the location effects of an EU enlargement. 1, record 57, English, - total%20decentralization%20of%20production

Grain processing : the type of grain and processing method can have a significant impact on the site and extent of starch digestion of a particular diet and resulting milk component composition and yield. Generally, ground, rolled, heated, steam fladed or pelletized grain increases starch digestibilities and propionic acid production in the rumen. Steam flaked corn or sorghum compared to steam rolled corn or dry rolled corn or sorghum consistently improves milk production and milk protein yield. In six comparisons, steam flaked corn increased milk protein percentage and yield and decreased milk fat percentage compared to steam rolled corn.

In the late 1970's, a group of molecules called ’conjugated linoleic acids’(CLA) were found to prevent selected cancers. They are fatty acids, are quite similar in structure, and are derived biologically from a very common fatty acid, linoleic acid. The CLA family can also be synthesized in the laboratory from vegetable oils, offering an opportunity for increased utilization of agricultural lipids. It is now known that the effects of dietary CLA include not only cancer prevention but also prevention of Type 2 diabetes, reduced fat production with increased muscle production, and decreased atherosclerosis. 1, record 64, English, - conjugated%20linoleic%20acid
