A name assigned by CAS to UVCB substances for which the CAS Registry Number is not currently included in CAS abstracting and indexing services. These names describe such substances as completely as possible and are generally assigned in accordance with standard CAS indexing practices, using CAS controlled CA indexing terminology. Abbreviations are used in these names, e. g. alc. for alcohol, Bu for butyl, derivs. for derivatives, distn. for distillation, Me for methyl.
