The goal of Indian Government Support programming is to provide bands with assistance for the establishment and maintenance of effective local governance and administrative systems and the provision of programs and services to their members. Indian Government Support is provided for a variety of functions, including : pension and benefit regimes for eligible band employees; capacity development and training; and, where feasible and desirable, the regional administration of programs and services through tribal councils. The Indian Government Support Programs include : Band Support Funding, Band Employee Benefits, Tribal Council Funding, Band Advisory Services, and Professional and Institutional Development.

Les cinq programmes de Soutien aux gouvernements indiens sont distincts mais apparentés. Ils contribuent à payer les coûts permanents de leurs gouvernements et institutions et à renforcer leurs capacités. Les programmes de Soutien aux gouvernements indiens incluent: le Programme de financement de soutien des bandes, le Programme des avantages sociaux des employés des bandes, le Programme de financement des conseils tribaux, le Programme de services consultatifs des bandes et le Programme de développement professionnel et institutionnel. Le renouvellement des autorités de programmes est en cours pour 2010-11.
