The issue of metalwork being brought from the West to the Crusader East is problematic, and specific examples are difficult to identify, despite the textual indications and practical consideration that make such activity likely. It is therefore remarkable that our prime examples in this period turn out to be a handsome group of pieces containing both aristocratic silver for secular use and liturgical silver to use at mass. 2, record 1, English, - liturgical%20silver

A distinction exists in English and in French with how to designate the articles made of precious metals manufactured by a craftsperson. In English, for example, the designation "silver" refers specifically to articles made of silver or an alloy of silver. In French, the designation "orfèvrerie" refers more generally to the articles manufactured by a craftsperson regardless of what precious metal or metals are used to create the articles. 3, record 1, English, - liturgical%20silver

The intention of presplitting is to attain the same advantages as with smooth blasting. As opposed to smooth blasting, presplitting is used to blast the contour holes before the actual round is fired. Presplitting produces a crack in the rock between the contour holes at which the rock then loosens during the subsequent bench blasting. Because the holes are so closely spaced, crack formation follows the rows of holes and the holes themselves form crack indications. This means that uncharged holes between charged holes can improve the result when so required... 3, record 4, English, - presplitting

... what makes some extratropical cyclones produce catastrophically damaging winds.... [Keith Browning and Pete Clark] have identified a mesoscale flow which they call the Sting Jet. It originates in the cloud head of a rapidly deepening cyclone and gathers speed as it descends towards the tip of the cloud head when it begins to hook around the cyclone centre... The Sting Jet was first identified observationally from a reanalysis of the Great Storm of October 1987 where the damaging winds were shown to be emanating from the evaporating tip of the hooked cloud head. It has since been reproduced in high-resolution runs with the mesoscale version of the Unified Model. The Sting Jet is distinct from the usual strong-wind region associated with the warm conveyor belt and main cold front. There are indications that conditional symmetric instability and evaporation both play a role in its formation but the importance of these processes remains to be quantified. 4, record 6, English, - sting%20jet

Sting jets occur in cyclones when there is a dramatic fall in the barometric pressure. ... The sting jet is born at an altitude of three miles, within layers of ascending moist air. 1. The "dispersion of indications" can be expressed quantitatively by the standard deviation or by the range of dispersion(spread) of the indications. 2. The concept envisaged is equally applicable to measuring instruments and to graduated material measures. It is to be noted that insofar as material measures, which only reproduce a single value(or several separate values) of a quantity, are concerned, it is not theoretically correct to speak of dispersion of their "indications", given that these represent fixed values. In this case, however, it is the dispersion of the value reproduced of the quantity which is of interest, a dispersion that can be found by means of comparisons with a standard. 3. It is necessary to indicate the conditions under which the series of measurements in question is carried out : if these measurements are to follow directly one after the other; if between each of them there must be a certain time interval; if they must be carried out by the same observer or by different observers, etc... 1, record 10, English, - dispersion%20of%20indications

Is the HSB a special case? Is it possible to generalise the analysis of the HSB movement and to extend it to other organisations, or is this housing co-operative federation a very special case? It is the contention of this paper that the results are of general interest and with relevance for a wide range of organisations, especially those within the non-profit and voluntary sectors. Of course, it is not possible to, within the limits of this paper, to prove this. However, some indications in favour of this position will be put forward. This circumstantial evidence concern three other Swedish organisations-one a formally non-profit building company, one fund which collects money in order to support research for a cure against cancer, the third being the Union for asthmatics and allergics. 1, record 16, English, - non%2Dprofit%20building%20company
