Disinfection process, mainly with chlorine, to prevent microbiological contamination of water can lead to the formation of hazardous disinfection by-products(DBPs) due to the reaction of chlorine with natural organic matter(NOM) present in the water.... Beyond specific health based thresholds, DBPs can represent a public health issue due to the potential chronic risk of adverse effects on human health(e. g., cancer, reproductive and developmental effects) and the high prevalence of exposure. Thus, DBPs constitute an important concern for water systems, especially systems supplied by surface waters.... Recently, a technique known as differential UV [ultraviolet] absorbance(DUVA) has been developed that could provide a sensitive and highly specific indicator for DBP formation resulting from chlorination. 2, record 1, English, - differential%20UV%20absorbance

2, record 1, French, - diff%C3%A9rentiel%20d%27absorbance%20UV

Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 OBS
... The term basicity function is not in common use in connection with basic solutions.... Acidity functions are not unique properties of the solvent system alone but depend on the solute(or family of closely related solutes) with respect to which the thermodynamic tendency is measured. Commonly used acidity functions refer to concentrated acidic or basic solutions. Acidity functions are usually established over a range of compositions of such a system by spectrophotometric or nmr measurements of the degree of protonation(or Lewis adduct formation) for the members of a series of structurally similar indicator bases(or acids) of different strengths... 1, record 3, English, - acidity%20function

1, record 3, French, - fonction%20d%27acidit%C3%A9

Submillimeter Wave Astronomy Satellite(SWAS) is a NASA mission to map the universe in the radio wavelength range from 487 to 557 GHz. Launched in late 1998, SWAS made the first space-based observations of submillimeter wavelengths to help scientists understand the processes that contribute to the birth of stars. The submillimeter region is important for observation because instruments can detect emissions from molecules in very cold clouds in space. SWAS is the first instrument flown to detect water in almost every dust cloud in space that it has observed, a key indicator in the cooling process that contributes to star formation. 2, record 7, English, - submillimeter%2Dwave%20astronomy%20satellite
