INDIGENOUS BACTERIA [4 records]

Record 1 2020-04-28

English

Subject field(s)
  • Microbiology and Parasitology
  • Environmental Management
  • Crude Oil and Petroleum Products
CONT

There is little information on how different strategies for the bioremediation of marine oil spills influence the key indigenous hydrocarbon‐degrading bacteria(hydrocarbonoclastic bacteria, HCB), and hence their remediation efficacy.

OBS

hydrocarbonoclastic bacteria: plural.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Microbiologie et parasitologie
  • Gestion environnementale
  • Pétroles bruts et dérivés
CONT

English

Subject field(s)
  • Anti-pollution Measures
  • Soil Pollution
CONT

Bioventing is an in situ remediation technology that uses indigenous microorganisms to biodegrade organic constituents adsorbed to soils in the unsaturated zone. Soils in the capillary fringe and the saturated zone are not affected. In bioventing, the activity of the indigenous bacteria is enhanced by inducing air(or oxygen) flow into the unsaturated zone(using extraction or injection wells) and, if necessary, by adding nutrients.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Mesures antipollution
  • Pollution du sol
CONT

Record 3 2002-11-26

English

Subject field(s)
  • Breadmaking
DEF

A piece of dough cut from a previous batch of bread which is used to make a levain or starter for the next bread.

CONT

All sour-typed doughs use a starter in the initial stage. The starter is taken from a ripe sour. It can also be produced by "spontaneous fermentation"-a process that is initiated by bacteria indigenous to the flour and by airborne organisms infecting the flour.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Boulangerie
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Microbiology and Parasitology
  • Pollutants
CONT

Such bacteria, though not very abundant compared to indigenous bacteria, may find favourable conditions for development in the sediment if it contains a lot of organic matter.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Microbiologie et parasitologie
  • Agents de pollution
CONT
