Being an ally is not simply a matter of identity; it involves taking action. Allies can take action in a variety of ways. They can advocate for the rights of those who experience discrimination or help support their needs. They can also work actively from within social, political or economic structures to challenge and eliminate oppressive policies and practices. 2, record 61, English, - ally

Ideally, an ally recognizes and understands their own privilege, which they can use to help those they have allied with. An ally can also experience discrimination in one area of their life, even if they have certain privileges in another. The Cree of the coast make up the aboriginal nation occupying the Haute-Mauricie region. Indigenous people inhabiting Labrador and northeastern Quebec. The Innu nation consists of 3 groups-the Naskapi, the Attikamek and the Montagnais. In Quebec the Innu are called "Montagnais" or "Naskapi", depending not only on their ethnic origins, but also their geographic location in the province. Strictly speaking, however, the Montagnais and the Naskapi are specific sub-groups of the Innu; in Labrador and Newfoundland, one speaks only of the "Innu". The term "Innu" is invariable. 3, record 95, English, - Innu

3, record 95, French, - Innu
