Ophthalmoscopy can be broken up into two types, direct and indirect. Direct ophthalmoscopy provides an upright, unreversed image of around 15 times magnification, while indirect ophthalmoscopy produces a reversed, inverted image magnified [two to five] times. Indirect ophthalmoscope. It has a separate power supply, a separate illumination, separate focussing and magnifying system [than the direct ophthalmoscope. ] The illumination system is worn on the forehead of the examiner. The magnifier also known as condenser is held in the right hand of the examiner.... The indirect ophthalmoscope gives a real, inverted and magnified image of the fundus. The image is formed in front of the eye of the patient. The magnification depends upon the power of the magnifier. Oftalmoscopio indirecto. One way is to use a pinhole projector, which has a small opening(for example, a hole punched in an index card) and projects an image of the Sun onto a nearby surface.
