The word tort comes from le Latin term torquere, which means "twisted or wrong. "The English common law recognized no separate legal action in tort. Instead, the British legal system afforded litigants two central avenues of redress : trespass for direct injuries, and actions "on the case" for indirect injuries. Gradually, the common law recognized other civil actions, including defamation, libel, and slander. 2, record 1, English, - action%20in%20tort

Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 OBS
In current usage, "road" is applied as a general term for all broad main ways that have a smoothed or paved surface. A road in a city is usually called a "street. "The English word "route" is more specific than "road. "It usually refers to an indirect way of reaching a certain point or to a course taken to reach a destination, thus a "route" can include many roads. Vehicular ways of secondary importance in rural areas are often called "roads, "while those of primary importance are called "highways. " 1, record 2, English, - road
