Among the societal factors that influence rates of violence are those that create an acceptable climate for violence. … The silence and inhibition of those who know, and victim blaming attitudes, contribute to create a climate of tolerance that reduces inhibitions against violence, makes it more difficult for women to come forward, and promotes social passivity. … A public education effort is needed to break the silence, to reduce social tolerance, and to increase the level of social responsibility by promoting individual and collective action regarding domestic violence against women. … Zero tolerance campaigns, involving local organisations, community groups, academics, and a highly visible media campaign with the aim of challenging social attitudes towards violence against women by their intimate partners, are a good example of a public education effort to change the social climate of silence, tolerance and inhibition. 2, record 2, English, - social%20tolerance

A gender-based analysis(GBA) is a tool to both understand the local context and to support gender equality. A GBA examines the relationships between men and women, girls and boys, their access to resources, their activities, and the constraints they face relative to each other in a particular context. It identifies the varied roles played by women and men, girls and boys in the household, community, workplace, political processes and economy. These different roles often result in women having less access to and control over resources, and less participation and influence in decision-making processes. A GBA also considers how other intersecting identity factors such as race, ethnicity, LGBTQ2I [lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, two-spirit, intersex], legal status, ability, language, religion, socio-economic status, and education, affect individual and group experiences, including among women and among men. Gender equality is not exclusively about women's or girls’ issues and is not only about working with or for women and girls. Men's and boys’ engagement is critical. 5, record 3, English, - gender%2Dbased%20analysis

7, record 3, French, - analyse%20comparative%20entre%20les%20sexes

The Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen(French : La Déclaration des droits de l'homme et du citoyen) is one of the fundamental documents of the French Revolution, defining a set of individual rights and collective rights of all of the estates as one. Influenced by the doctrine of natural rights, these rights are universal : they are supposed to be valid in all times and places, pertaining to human nature itself. The last article of the Declaration was adopted on 26 August 1789, by the National Constituent Assembly(Assemblée nationale constituante), as the first step toward writing a constitution. While it set forth fundamental rights, not only for French citizens but for all men without exception, it did not make any statement about the status of women, nor did it explicitly address slavery. 1, record 14, English, - Declaration%20of%20the%20Rights%20of%20Man%20and%20of%20the%20Citizen

1, record 14, French, - D%C3%A9claration%20des%20droits%20de%20l%27homme%20et%20du%20citoyen

The popular economy has become the main vector for productive activity for the majority of the world's poor, especially those living in the world's rapidly expanding cities. The popular economy represents the last resort against extreme poverty, youth unemployment and social exclusion, and is made up of a multitude of small businesses, often family-run, but also of individual activities run by women and youth. Jobs vary greatly, and include : recycling discarded household equipment, repairing machines, sewing, selling and transporting water, making craft goods, and market stalls. 2, record 19, English, - popular%20economy
