Eventually, in opposition to Holmes, scholars began to contend that "worthwhile 'social gain’ is achieved by shifting losses from innocent victims". A new rationale for tort law-loss distribution-was devised to reflect these developments and to spur further growth along these lines. According to this theory, accident losses are no longer shifted from one individual to another. Rather, the costs are transferred to industrial enterprises and insured activities which generate most accidents. These activities do not bear these costs themselves but spread them throughout the community via price increases or insurance premiums. 1, record 1, English, - loss%20distribution

2, record 1, French, - r%C3%A9partition%20des%20pertes

Motor vehicle liability insurance limits may be described in two ways. In Canada, it is usual to state this as an "Inclusive Limit", which will provide a lump sum to respond to either injuries or property damage, in any one accident. In the United States it is usual to state this as "Separate Limits", which for example, in Alabama, will provide $10, 000 for an individual injury or up to $20, 000 for any number of persons injured, plus $5, 000 for property damage, in any one accident. 1, record 4, English, - motor%20vehicle%20liability%20insurance%20limit

1, record 4, French, - limite%20de%20garantie%20en%20mati%C3%A8re%20d%27assurance%20de%20la%20responsabilit%C3%A9%20civile%20automobile
