At one time, there was a major distinction between securities firms. These were investment dealers on the one hand and stock brokers on the other, and individual securities firms tended to specialize as one or the other. This distinction has largely disappeared. In simple terms, an investment dealer acts as principal in securities transactions while a stock broker acts as agent. A securities firm acting as a dealer or principal owns the securities that are sold to or bought from investors. Thus, the securities are part of the firm's inventory. The difference between buying and selling prices is the dealer's gross profit or loss. On the other hand, the stock broker, as an agent, acts on behalf of the buyer or seller but does not own the securities. 6, record 3, English, - stockbroker

Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 CONT

2, record 3, French, - courtier

Evaporimeter(atmometer) An evaporimeter consists of a flat, porous ceramic disk(Bellani plate) in which water is drawn up by capillary action as water is evaporated from the disk. It is used to directly estimate crop evapotranspiration rate. Several commercial models can be easily installed near the edge of a field or on a roadway in a field.(The unit must be located far enough into the field to avoid field boundary effects.) One commercial model provides a green canvas-like material covering the ceramic disc to simulate crop leaf color. Reasonably good correlation has been found between field measurements and that calculated from Penman-type equations. Small difference in evaporation rates may be found between individual meters. Maintaining water levels and removal for freeze protection are necessary. 5, record 6, English, - Bellani%20atmometer

The most significant difference between RADARSAT-2 and RADARSAT-1 payload technology is that RADARSAT-2 uses a fully-active phased array antenna, rather than the passive slotted waveguide antenna used by RADARSAT-1. Fully-active phased arrays offer a number of very significant benefits over passive antenna, but they also add great complexity.... The phased array is made up of 512 individual radiating elements, organized into 16 columns(picture below shows a single column) along the 15-metre antenna length, each with 32 rows across the 1. 5-metre width. The phase shifters and amplitude control are built into the Transmit/Receive(T/R) modules, which feed the radiating elements. Each column has a computer that controls the 32 T/R module settings and these 16 computers are all linked to another computer(in the spacecraft bus) that orchestrates the overall antenna behaviour. 5, record 9, English, - active%2Dphased%20array%20antenna

Each tree has asserted itself in its respective strata, i. e., ensuring a vital space for energy(light, mineral salts) and water. In primary forest, competition obviously still takes place, particularly when climatic conditions prove difficult, bringing about a difference in vigour between individuals of the same species(thus in relative diameter). c) A period of maturity... d) A period of senescence... 2, record 13, English, - high%20pole

2, record 16, French, - intention%20suicidaire
