Record number: 25, Textual support number: 1 CONT
A Turk's head knot is a decorative knot with a basket weave pattern surrounding a cylinder shaped object. The name is used to describe the general family of all such knots rather than one individual knot. The most common use for the Turk's head is to mark the "king spoke" of a vessel' s wheel; when this spoke is upright the rudder is in a central position. Otherwise, the knot is used mostly for decoration, and occasionally as anti-chafing protection. The number of leads of a Turk's head is the number of crossings it makes as it goes around the circumference of the cylinder. The number of bends is the number of strands along the long axis of the cylinder. Depending on the number of leads and bends, a Turk's head may be tied using a single strand or multiple strands. Mathematically, the number of strands is the greatest common divisor of the number of leads and the number of bends; the knot may be tied with a single strand if and only if the two numbers are coprime. The knot was originally named because of its resemblance to a turban. 6, record 25, English, - Turk%26rsquo%3Bs%20head

Health Canada. The Professional Education Strategy flowed from a recommendation of the 1993 National Forum on Breast Cancer, aims at developing and implementing communication skills training for practising health professionals. The training focusses on interactions between family physicians, radiologists, surgeons and oncologists and their patients and stresses respect for individual rights and the importance of shared decision-making. A one-hour presentation kit, Talking Tools 1, was developed and distributed widely to the Deans, the offices of Continuing Medical Education(CME) and the Departments of Family Medicine of the medical schools and to numerous community-based hospital departments of CME. The kit is designed as an interactive presentation for practising physicians by practising physicians to raise awareness of the importance of communication skills and of the fact that these skills can be taught and learnt. 1, record 34, English, - Professional%20Education%20Strategy

Systemic psychotherapy. Systems theory looks upon the individual as part of a system. The implication for treatment is that the individual' s problems will be solved as a result of solving the faulty attitudes and interactions within the family or the relevant group. The systemic family therapist considers the neurotic individual as being the vulnerable member who expresses the neurosis of which the family suffers. Therefore, she focuses not on the individual, but on the patterns of relationships in which he lives... 2, record 48, English, - systemic%20psychotherapy

Family intervention. Intervention with families can be viewed as an extension of individual work, as a form of group work, or as a form of practice separate from both. While all three views have support, we view family work as an extension of individual casework practice as well as a bridge to group work. Often, families become involved in treatment as an outgrowth of an individual' s course of intervention. For example, a woman who is seeing a social worker to help her address anxious feelings may agree with the worker that including her family would be beneficial. 3, record 50, English, - family%20intervention

Children for a variety of reasons often "hit a wall" when asked to verbalize their feelings and concerns in therapy whether individual, group, or family therapy. At that point the child becomes anxious and the therapist is challenged to shift gears and find "face saving" and productive ways for them to participate in a meaningful way in the therapy process. Some children may not be able to verbalize due to developmental limitations, others may "shut-down" due to anxiety, anger, fear, resentment, a few may not be able to verbalize due to trauma events or trauma that occurred in the preverbal period. 1, record 53, English, - verbalize

World Evangelical Alliance is a global ministry working with local churches around the world to join in common concern to live and proclaim the Good News of Jesus in their communities. WEA is a network of churches in 127 nations that have each formed an evangelical alliance and over 100 international organizations joining together to give a worldwide identity, voice and platform to more than 420 million evangelical Christians. Seeking holiness, justice and renewal at every level of society-individual, family, community and culture, God is glorified and the nations of the earth are forever transformed. Christians from ten countries met in London in 1846 for the purpose of launching, in their own words, "a new thing in church history, a definite organization for the expression of unity amongst Christian individuals belonging to different churches. "This was the beginning of a vision that was fulfilled in 1951 when believers from 21 countries officially formed the World Evangelical Fellowship. 1, record 62, English, - World%20Evangelical%20Alliance

Proposals for a "flat tax" raise a number of important questions that would have to be addressed in the design of such a tax. For example, a flat tax would likely be less equitable than our current tax system, which has a progressive rate structure and provisions that take into account differing individual and family circumstances. Since a flat-tax system has only one tax rate, it tends to increase taxes on lower-and middle-income earners, while cutting taxes on high-income people. 1, record 73, English, - individual%20circumstances

2, record 73, French, - situation%20personnelle

Proposals for a "flat tax" raise a number of important questions that would have to be addressed in the design of such a tax. For example, a flat tax would likely be less equitable than our current tax system, which has a progressive rate structure and provisions that take into account differing individual and family circumstances. Since a flat-tax system has only one tax rate, it tends to increase taxes on lower-and middle-income earners, while cutting taxes on high-income people. 1, record 87, English, - middle%2Dincome%20earner

With today's economic conditions, many households are under financial stress, even though most families now contain two earners. Indeed, average family incomes have not grown in real terms(after inflation) since the mid-1970s. The reasons for this are many and include : increased part-time employment, higher unemployment, an increased proportion of one-parent families and slow growth in individual earnings. 1, record 90, French, - augmentation%20du%20travail%20%C3%A0%20temps%20partiel

The assets of independent foundations are most commonly derived from the gift of an individual or family. Some function under the voluntary direction of family members, while others may bear a family name but have independent boards of trustees and professional staff. Sphinx moths are strong fliers, with a very rapid wing beat. They feed on flowers, much like hummingbirds. Most species feed at dusk or at night; a few feed during the day. Some species have large areas of the wings devoid of scales and resemble bumble bees. Larvae of most species have a soft spinelike process near the posterior end of the body and are often called hornworms; some are pests of tomatoes, tobacco, and other plants ... 4, record 93, English, - hawk%20moths

acting out : the tendency to express urges, conflicts, and fantasies in uncontrolled action. In acting-out, the individual seeks to release impulses that are usually of a sexual or aggressive nature in order to gain relief from tension or anxiety. For instance, a girl who is afraid of men because of some traumatic family experience, but who refuses to face up to the extent of the trauma during psychotherapy because of increasing fear of it, will begin suddenly to flirt with a number of men. In this way she "proves" to herself and the therapist that she is not afraid of men and therefore does not really need to discover any cause of her fear. 2, record 96, English, - act%20out
