Among the societal factors that influence rates of violence are those that create an acceptable climate for violence. … The silence and inhibition of those who know, and victim blaming attitudes, contribute to create a climate of tolerance that reduces inhibitions against violence, makes it more difficult for women to come forward, and promotes social passivity. … A public education effort is needed to break the silence, to reduce social tolerance, and to increase the level of social responsibility by promoting individual and collective action regarding domestic violence against women. … Zero tolerance campaigns, involving local organisations, community groups, academics, and a highly visible media campaign with the aim of challenging social attitudes towards violence against women by their intimate partners, are a good example of a public education effort to change the social climate of silence, tolerance and inhibition. 2, record 14, English, - social%20tolerance

drug of choice : Referring to an individual' s "drug of choice" minimizes the potential seriousness of their substance use and related harms and implies that substance use merely reflects personal choice. When applied to an individual(e. g., "what's your drug of choice?") the term also suggests that some level/form substance use is assumed. In a clinical context, it is better to ask individuals if they use any substances and, if so, which substances. 1, record 15, English, - substance%20used

Another approach for linking biomonitoring data to health outcomes is to estimate external exposures that would be consistent with the measured biomonitoring data. Such approach is referred to as "reverse dosimetry." Similar to forward dosimetry, reverse dosimetry also uses pharmacokinetic models to link external exposure to biomarker concentration. The term "reverse," however, does not imply that the model input (i.e., administered dose or exposure) and output (i.e., internal tissue concentrations) are reversed. Instead, reverse dosimetry uses other statistical and computational tools to reverse the relationship of external-to-internal measure of exposures. 1, record 32, English, - reverse%20dosimetry

Up to 1970, stream quality standards in the United States were largely the responsibility of individual states. The federal government became dominant in 1970 through passage of the National Environmental Policy Act which instituted the concept of environmental impact statements and established the Environmental Protection Agency(EPA). In 1972, the Federal Water Pollution Control Act Amendments were passed which provided effluent limitation guidelines and authority to levy fines for noncompliance. This act stipulated a step-wise schedule for meeting conventional discharge criteria, the first target level by 1977 being equivalent to "best practical technology"(BPT), and the second target level by 1983 being equivalent to "best available technology economically achievable"(BAT). 4, record 71, English, - best%20available%20technology

ANSI X3. 23-1985 defines Cobol in terms of modules and their individual level of implementation(i. e. 1 or 2). The modules are combined into three subsets identified as "minimum", "intermediate", and "high". There are also four additional modules, each of which is optional. These are "report writer", "inter-program communication", "debug", and "segmentation". The "minimum" subset is composed of all language elements of level 1 of the "nucleus", "sequential I-O", and "inter-program communication". The "intermediate" subset is composed of all language elements of level 1 of all required modules. The "high" subset is composed of all language elements of the highest level of all required modules. The susceptible-infected-susceptible(SIS) model of Weiss and Dishon is one of the simplest models of endemic infections. The model describes the evolution of an infection in a fixed population, with no restriction on the possibility of reinfection of a previously infected and now recovered individual. This is in contrast to the venerable susceptible-infection-recovered(SIR) model, where reinfection is not permitted. Both models exhibit a threshold value of the infectivity, below which the infection immediately dies out. Below the threshold, where only a tiny fraction of the population is impacted, the two models have essentially equivalent statistical properties. Above the threshold, in the SIR model, the infection is self-limiting, since in a fixed population the number of potential new victims, the susceptible pool, is monotonically decreasing in size. The SIS model, on the other hand, describes an endemic infection which can(above the threshold) persist indefinitely, at least at the deterministic level. Thus, the statistics of infection size in the two models above the threshold are very different. 1, record 76, English, - susceptible%2Dinfected%2Dsusceptible%20model

The nanoassembler would also have the ability to reproduce itself in anticipation of a given task, then, presumably, disassemble those nanoassemblers no longer needed, harvesting the raw materials for subsequent projects. 3, record 79, English, - nanoassembler

Record number: 86, Textual support number: 1 OBS
It differs from a tax deduction, which is subtracted from a person's or a corporation's total income, thus lowering the taxable income against which income tax is levied. The value of the tax deduction for an individual depends on the level of income. The higher the income, the higher the top marginal rate of tax, and the greater the value of the tax deduction. In the case of a tax credit, however, the value is the same to all recipients, since it is deducted from the actual tax they would otherwise pay. The tax credit is considered a preferable way of extending benefits to individuals since it gives all recipients the same amount of money, while a tax deduction gives a greater benefit to people with high incomes. Moreover, a tax credit can be paid to people whose income is too low to require them to pay taxes, under a system of negative income tax, whereas a tax deduction can only benefit people who have taxable income. 3, record 86, English, - tax%20credit

The freezing system uses a highly effective heat transfer technology for rapid crust-freezing of raw protein-laden products. A low temperature plate filled with recirculating refrigerant begins the freezing process immediately to set the product’s shape. With a firm bottom surface, the product has enough integrity to be transferred to a spiral or tunnel freezer where it can be deep frozen to 0°F. Including investment and consumable costs, mechanical freezing can be as low as one-tenth the cost of comparable cryogenic crust-freezing systems. 2, record 88, English, - crust%20freezing

Polishing and planarization are related in that polishing improves the flatness(planarity), smoothness and optical properties of a surface. Planarization, however, is a much more critical process. Integrated circuit(IC) manufacturers must planarize each surface layer of an in-process wafer to make it level for the next application of microlithography. Solidarity economy designates all production, distribution and consumption activities that contribute to the democratization of the economy based on citizen commitments both at a local and global level. Solidarity economy is a dynamics of reciprocity and solidarity which links individual interests to the collective interest. In this sense, solidarity economy is not a sector of the economy, but a transversal approach that includes initiatives in all sectors of the economy. It is about ethical consumption, women's initiatives, community and ecological agriculture, social money, ethical financing, fair trade, community services, appropriate and democratized technology and social forms of ownership and management of assets and of developmental activities. 1, record 99, English, - solidarity%20economy

2, record 99, French, - %C3%A9conomie%20solidaire
