In the pre-anti-VEGF [vascular endothelial growth factor] era, submacular surgery was investigated as an option for managing subfoveal CNV [choroidal neovascularization]. This was motivated the dismal visual outcomes and potential risk of acute loss of vision with thermal laser photocoagulation in these cases. The technique of submacular surgery has also been used to access extrafoveal, juxtafoveal, peripapillary and occult CNVs in the subretinal space.... The surgical technique of submacular surgery is well-defined... Access is created through initial three-port pars plana vitrectomy. 3, record 1, English, - submacular%20surgery

Record number: 7, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Second impact syndrome can result from even a very mild concussion that occurs days or weeks after the initial concussion. What is Second Impact Syndrome? In patients who sustain a second concussion when the first one has not fully healed, the brain loses its ability to auto regulate intracranial and cerebral perfusion pressure. This may lead to cerebral edema(severe swelling of the brain) and possible brain herniation. Loss of consciousness after the initial injury followed by secondary brain damage creates ionic fluxes, acute metabolic changes, and cerebral blood flow alterations. All of these characteristics enhance the vulnerability of the brain and greatly increase the risk of death, even if the second injury was far less intense. 1, record 7, English, - second%20impact%20syndrome

Abomasal impaction. Impaction of the abomasum develops in pregnant beef cows during cold winter months when cattle have decreased water intake and are fed poor-quality roughage. It also has been seen in feedlot cattle fed a variety of mixed rations containing chopped or ground roughage(straw, hay) and cereal grains and in late-pregnancy dairy cows on similar feeds. Complete anorexia, scant feces, moderate distention of the abdomen, weight loss, and weakness are usually the initial signs. Body temperature is usually normal but may be subnormal during cold weather. A mucoid nasal discharge tends to collect at the external nares and on the muzzle; the muzzle is usually dry and cracked due to the failure of the animal to lick its nostrils and to the effects of dehydration. The heart rate may be increased, and mild dehydration is common. 2, record 9, English, - abomasal%20impaction

Holland and Lambert... carried out Rb-Sr isotopic analyses on a set of 13 samples of pegmatite but the data do not form a single coherent isochron and are, therefore, difficult to interpret. A selected nine-point isochron implies a crystallisation age of 1663 [more or less] 22 Ma with an initial 87Sr/86Sr ratio of 0. 705, coincident with that of the Tollie gneisses.... Holland and Lambert considered that the scatter of points might be the product of an open isotopic system involving variable loss of 87Sr into the host gneisses. If this were the case and if there were no comparable loss of Rb, the upper boundary of the data spread(i. e. the nine-point 1663 Ma isochron) would be expected to give the closest approximation to the age. 4, record 10, English, - nine%2Dpoint%20Rb%2DSr%20isochron
