Record number: 7, Textual support number: 1 CONT
The general principles of chemical-reaction kinetics apply to enzyme-catalyzed reactions, but they also show a distinctive feature not usually observed in nonenzymatic reactions, saturation with substrate.... At a low substrate concentration, the initial reaction velocity vo is nearly proportional to the substrate concentration, and the reaction is thus approximately first order with respect to the substrate. However, as the substrate concentration is increased, the initial rate increases less, so that is is no longer nearly proportional to the substrate concentration; in this zone, the reaction is mixed order. With a further increase in the substrate concentration, the reaction rate becomes essentially independent of substrate concentration and asymptotically approaches a constant rate. 3, record 7, English, - saturation

The arrangement of the beam-penetration CRT is similar to that of normal CRT's; the only unusual component is the multilayer phosphor, in which a layer of red phosphor is deposited behind the initial layer of green phosphor. If a fairly low-potential electron beam strikes the tube face, it excites only the red phosphor and therefore produces a red trace. When the accelerating potential is increased, the velocity of the beam striking the phosphor is greater, and as a result the beam penetrates into the green phosphor, increasing the green component of the light output. 1, record 9, English, - beam%2Dpenetration%20CRT

The number of molecules (or atoms) reacting per unit time. It has been explained by a combination of two theoretical models, the so-called collision theory and the transition state theory.... The collision theory provides a qualitative description of the factors that affect rate and proposes that reactions occur as a result of collisions between the reacting species.... The transition state theory expands upon the collision theory by proposing that an unstable transition state, or activated complex, is formed when reactants collide with the proper orientation and with a collision energy at least equal to the activation energy. 1, record 11, English, - reaction%20rate

1, record 11, French, - vitesse%20de%20r%C3%A9action

Angular rate gyro accuracy is characterized by two parameters: scale factor and drift. The scale factor describes the capability of the gyro to accurately sense angular velocity at different angular rates. This value is used to convert the voltage output from the gyro into an angular rate. System imperfections can cause small variations in the scale factor. These variations appear as a factor at the output of the gyro. Gyro drift characterizes the ability of the gyro to reference all rate measurements to the nominal zero point. 3, record 15, English, - angular%20velocity

Angular velocity is the time rate of change of angular displacement. More simply it is a measure of how fast an object is rotating. For example, the measure of a skater's spinning speed during a sit spin is called angular velocity. Angular velocity is calculated by subtracting the initial angular position from the final angular position and dividing by the time it took to get from the initial to final position. Angular velocity is measured in radians/second(SI units) or degrees/second or revolutions/second(English units). 4, record 15, English, - angular%20velocity

An example will illustrate the futility of attempting to control welding smoke in a production area by means of a ceiling exhaust fan. Assume: (1) Exhaust fan, 15 ft over work area and directly overhead, (2) fan capacity 20,000 cfm, and (3) exhaust opening 5 ft in diameter. Calculate the velocity of air movement at one diameter, or 5 ft from the opening. The minimum capture velocity necessary to control welding smoke is 100 fpm. Yet at a point only 5 ft from the fan opening the velocity has decreased from approximately 1000 fpm to 75 fpm and the welking smoke is still 10 ft away. 2, record 26, English, - capture%20velocity

A crude model for estimating dry deposition in the initial phase, i. e. before complete mixing in the boundary payer has taken place, is presented. It is shown that because of the much more rapid rate of vertical dispersion in an urban environment compared to that in a rural area the proportion of sulfur dioxide emitted that is deposited locally is larger in a small city than in a large city, provided the velocity of dry deposition is the same. 1, record 28, English, - vertical%20dispersion
