Trips employing auxiliary trip units include the Loss of Load trip and the APD – High trip. The Loss of Load trip is a contact input from the Electro Hydraulic Control System control oil pressure on each of the four high pressure stop valves. … 10. Loss of Load. The Loss of Load(turbine stop valve(TSV) control oil pressure) trip is anticipatory for the loss of heat removal capabilities of the secondary system following a turbine trip. The Loss of Load trip prevents lifting the pressurizer saftey valves, PORVs and MSSVs in the event of a turbine generator trip. Thus, the trip minimizes the pressure and temperature transients on the reactor by initiating a trip well before reaching the Pressurizer Pressure – High trip and pressurizer safety valve setpoints. The four RPS Loss of Load reactor trip channels receive their input from sensors mounted on the high pressure TSV actuators. Since there are four high pressure TSVs, one actuator per valve and one sensor per actuator, each sensor sends its signal to a different RPS channel. When the turbine trips, control oil is dumped from the high pressure TSVs. When the control oil pressure drops to the appropriate setpoint, a reactor trip signal is generated. 1, record 7, English, - load%20reactor%20trip%20channel

The power plant operator must promptly and correctly diagnose the initiating event. He accomplishes this mentally, based on training and prior experience. As a result of this instant evaluation, he then selects the event-oriented procedure that best fits his diagnosis. For example, if his evaluation indicates that a small steam line break has occurred in the reactor building when, in actuality, a small loss of coolant has occurred in the building, he would implement the wrong event-oriented procedure. Eventually he will recognize his error, however, by that time, the condition may have substantially worsened. 1, record 8, English, - event%2Doriented%20approach

One method used to uncover all the things that could go wrong is the "event tree/fault tree" analysis technique. Event tree work is not unlike following a multi-branched trail of dominoes as they knock each other over in sequence. Such analysis allows the tracing of things that could occur after the initiating events. Paths of action and consequences are traced, sometimes to great length. The fault tree technique, a favorite tool of AECB staff members, is a means of finding out what combinations of component and system failures would cause an event in the first place. It provides a systematic method of checking that the systems being relied on to prevent something worse happening won’t be knocked out by the event itself. 1, record 12, English, - event%20tree%2Ffault%20tree%20analysis%20technique

1, record 13, French, - arbre%20d%27%C3%A9v%C3%A9nements

... a failure that results in one or more devices in a system not functioning in their intended manner and is caused by :(a) An influence from within the system or from other systems(e. g., generated interference among redundant channels that could not be reasonably foreseen in the design process) ;or(b) The consequential or causal influence of the initiating event itself(e. g., the effect of missiles generated by a loss-of-coolant accident that could strike and damage post-accident monitoring and display equipment).... 1, record 14, English, - cross%2Dlink%20failure
