As part of the Government of Canada's Child Development Initiative, Human Resources Development Canada directed and funded the National Longitudinal Survey of Children and Youth(NLSCY) in partnership with Statistics Canada. The survey is a long-term study designed to enhance our knowledge of human development in Canada. Almost 23, 000 children in Canada, ranging in age from birth to 11 years will be followed into adulthood. This will paint an integrated picture of all major aspects of well-being including health, family, community, education and work. The NLSCY will fill an information gap on children in Canada and their development, particularly the lack of information over time.

Dans le cadre de l'Initiative pour le développement de l'enfant du Gouvernement du Canada, Développement des ressources humaines Canada a mené et financé l'Enquête longitudinale nationale sur les enfants et les jeunes (ELNEJ), en partenariat avec Statistique Canada. L'enquête est une étude à long terme conçue pour améliorer nos connaissances sur le développement humain au Canada. Près de 23 000 enfants du Canada, âgés de la naissance à 11 ans, seront suivis jusqu'à l'âge adulte. Ainsi, nous obtiendrons un portrait détaillé de tous les principaux aspects reliés au bien-être, comme la santé, la famille, la communauté, l'éducation et le travail. L'ELNEJ comblera le manque d'information sur les enfants du Canada et leur développement, plus particulièrement le manque d'information au fil du temps.
