Resin transfer molding(RTM)... uses a closed mold, in two or more parts, usually made of glass-reinforced polymers or light metal alloys, with injection points and vents to allow air to escape. Reinforcement is cut to shape and placed in the mold, together with any inserts or fittings. The mold is closed and a low viscosity thermosetting resin(usually polyester) is injected under low pressure through a mixing head in which hardener is blended with the resin. 9, record 3, English, - resin%20transfer%20moulding

Hypersonic propulsion. Color Enhanced Supersonic Hydrogen Flame Through funding from the Hyper-X Program Office at NASA Langley, an experimental study of a dual-mode scramjet combustor is being conducted at the Aerospace Research Laboratory of the University of Virginia. Using conventional instrumentation and multiple laser-based diagnostic techniques, the study aims to further the understanding of the fuel-air mixing and combustion processes within the combustor and to resolve the uncertainty in CFD predictions of such flows. The majority of the experiments are being conducted using a high-enthalpy, continuous-flow facility. This facility simulates Mach 5 flight of a scramjet operating with ramp fuel injection of hydrogen. NASA Langley is performing numerical modeling of the combustor and these results are being compared with the experimental measurements. 2, record 4, English, - hypersonic%20propulsion

In an indirect injection diesel engine, fuel is injected into a small prechamber which is connected to the cylinder by a narrow opening. The initial combustion takes place in this prechamber. This has the effect of slowing the rate of combustion, which tends to reduce audible noise. In a direct injection diesel engine, fuel is injected directly into the cylinder. The piston incorporates a depression(often toroidal) which is where initial combustion takes place. Direct injection diesel engines are generally more efficient than indirect injection engines, but have a tendency to produce greater amounts of audible noise. In either case the location where combustion takes place, called a swirl chamber, is carefully designed to ensure adequate mixing of the atomized fuel with the compression-heated air. 4, record 6, English, - direct%2Dinjection%20diesel%20engine

The manufacture of foamed plastics products involves slightly different forming processes than those described above. The three types of foam plastic are blown, syntactic, and structural. Blown foam is an expanded matrix, similar to a natural sponge; syntactic foam is the encapsulation of hollow organic or inorganic micro spheres in the plastic matrix; and structural foam is a foamed core surrounded by a solid outer skin. All three types of foam plastic can be produced using processes such as injection, extrusion, and compression molding to create foam products in many of the same shapes as solid plastics products. The difference is that creating foam products requires processes such as the addition of chemical blowing agents, different mixing processes which add air to the plastic matrix, or a unique injection molding process used to make structural plastic. 1, record 9, English, - blown%20foam

2, record 11, French, - mousse%20syntactique
