Barge carriers are a variant of the container ship. Standard barges are carried into which the cargo has been previously loaded. The barges, once unloaded, are towed away by tugs and return cargo barges are loaded. Minimal or even no port facilities are required, and the system is well suited to countries with extensive inland waterways. 4, record 1, English, - barge%20carrier

Those who recorded the period of the fur trade in writing noted a distinction which still exists today between Crees of the coast(Coasters) and Crees from the interior(Inlanders). The main activity of the coastal Crees was goose hunting; their hunting and trapping territories were not very far away and did not require the use of a canoe... The inland Crees, more numerous than those of the coast and occupying the land at a distance from the coast, only came to the post once a year to exchange their furs; they were the main suppliers of pelts. 1, record 38, English, - Cree%20of%20the%20coast

There are four ways to express an indigenous collectivity in English: 1) with the plural inflection "-s"; 2) if the collectivity does not apply to a subgroup, with the use of the term "nation", as in the Cree nation; 3) with the use of the word "people", as in the Huron and Cree peoples; 4) with the use of the definite article, e.g. The Cree of the coast make up the aboriginal nation occupying the Haute-Mauricie region. Since the "-s" is redundant, this author prefers the use of the definite article (e.g. the Cree, the Haida, etc.). However the use of "nation" is the option preferred most by the Native peoples of Canada, for political reasons. 2, record 38, English, - Cree%20of%20the%20coast

Those who recorded the period of the fur trade in writing noted a distinction which still exists today between Crees of the coast(Coasters) and Crees from the interior(Inlanders). The inland Crees, more numerous than those of the coast and occupying the land at a distance from the coast, only came to the post once a year to exchange their furs; they were the main suppliers of pelts. 1, record 40, English, - Cree%20from%20the%20interior

The Cree from the interior make up the aboriginal nation occupying the Haute-Mauricie region. Since the "-s" is redundant, this author prefers the use of the definite article (e.g. the Cree, the Haida, etc.). However the use of "nation" is the option preferred most by the Native peoples of Canada, for political reasons. 2, record 40, English, - Cree%20from%20the%20interior

2, record 70, French, - Programme%20de%20surveillance%20des%20marais

A land-locked sea has no connection with the open sea, and may be assimilated to a mere lake. This may lie within one... State or, like the Caspian Sea, between two States. The spiny water flea(Bythotrephes cederstroemi) is not an insect but a small crustacean, about half an inch long with a long, sharp, barbed tail spine. It is native to Great Britain, and its home range extended through northern Europe east to the Caspian Sea. It was first found in Lake Huron in 1984, and was most likely introduced from ballast water discharge from a trans-oceanic freighter. Since then, populations of the crustacean have exploded and it can now be found throughout the Great Lakes and in many inland lakes and waterways. 3, record 90, English, - spiny%20water%20flea

Oil slick dispersants. When oil ... is treated with a suitable surface active agent and agitation applied, the oil is broken up into particles ... so small that they constitute an oil-in-water emulsion ... Dispersants serve to increase the surface area of an oil spill and disperse oil globules throughout the layer volume water. This causes an accelerated degradation of oil by microbiological action. 7, record 92, English, - dispersant
Record number: 92, Textual support number: 1 OBS
The chemicals used to disperse the oil are emulsifiers. Although a chemist would never confuse the terms dispersant and emulsifier, the former designating a product which encourages the distribution of finely divided solids in a fluid, either liquid or gas, the latter referring to a product which encourages the colloidal dispersion of one liquid in another, the terms are synonymous in the field of oil pollution control. This is explained by the following sentence taken from "The Control of oil pollution on the sea and inland waters", edited by J. Wardley-Smith(source COCOB) :"It was found... [that the product] when sprayed on to the oil, effectively softened and dispersed it by means of emulsification... "The dispersion is accomplished by products which emulsify the oil, i. e., emulsifiers. Dispersion is used in its general sense and hence dispersant simply means a product that causes spreading. Also dispersant is used more frequently than emulsifier. 8, record 92, English, - dispersant

"carriage paid to" means that the seller delivers the goods to the carrier nominated by him but the seller must in addition pay the cost of carriage necessary to bring the goods to the named destination. This means that the buyer bears all risks and any other costs occurring after the goods have been so delivered. "carrier" means any person who, in a contract of carriage, undertakes to perform or to procure the performance of transport, by rail, road, air, sea, inland waterway or by a combination of such modes. If subsequent carriers are used for the carriage to the agreed destination, the risk passes when the goods have been delivered to the first carrier. The CPT term requires the seller to clear the goods for export.
