INLET CONTROL SYSTEM [7 records]

Record 1 2015-02-17

English

Subject field(s)
  • Compressors
  • Refrigerating Machines and Appliances
DEF

That part of a refrigerating system operating at approximately the evaporator pressure.

DEF

Low-pressure side of the system extending from the refrigerant control through the evaporator to the inlet valve of the compressor.

Key term(s)
  • low pressure

French

Domaine(s)
  • Compresseurs
  • Machines frigorifiques
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Air Conditioning and Heating
CONT

The primary function of an air handling system for any type of clean room is to control the level of airborne contaminant particles by constantly filtering and recirculating the air. The arrangement of a system depends on whether it is to be a conventional clean room, unidirectional vertical or horizontal flow clean room. In the basic form, however, it consists of a fan, ducting for inlet and exhaust air and an air filtration system.

CONT

Because the façades are not airtight, building occupants often block up the fresh-air ducts, thereby interfering with the air circulation system.

Key term(s)
  • air flow system

Record 3 2007-07-12

English

Subject field(s)
  • Aircraft Propulsion Systems
CONT

The CF34 inlet guide vanes(IGV) and the first five stages of stator vanes are variable, and the main fuel control schedules their position as a function of the desired VG [variable geometry] scheduling. The VG system has two turnbuckles for each of the 5 VG stages. Actual position of the variable geometry is transmitted through a feedback cable and the turnbuckles.

Key term(s)
  • feed-back cable

French

Domaine(s)
  • Propulsion des aéronefs
CONT

Record 4 2005-08-16

English

Subject field(s)
  • Fueling Systems (Motor Vehicles)
CONT

Fuel in the D4D is pressurised to an extremely high 135mpa within the "common rail" that feeds all four cylinders (older diesel engines have a separate pipe leading from the pump to each cylinder). The high pressure injection creates better fuel atomisation for complete burning and increased power output. And because there is less fuel wasted through inefficient combustion, the D4D delivers better fuel economy too.

OBS

A common rail engine is designed to supply constant fuel pressure to electronically controlled injectors through a shared fuel reservoir. This means that the fuel supply is not dependent on the engine revs. A common rail system is built around four basic components : a high pressure pump with pressure regulator and inlet metering valve, a rail which contains a pressurised reserve of fuel, injectors which inject precise amounts of fuel into the combustion chamber as required and a Diesel Control Unit-the ’brain’ of the system, which precisely controls injector flow and timing as well as rail pressure while continuously monitoring the operating conditions of the engine.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Alimentation (Véhicules automobiles)
DEF
