Sanitary and storm sewer systems are an integral part of an urban area. Waste treatment facilities are carefully designed for industrial, institutional, commercial, and population wastes. To ensure proper flow of waste and storm systems, pre-benched manhole bases allow smooth transition and flows at junctions, change of pipe sizes and lateral connections. The pre-benched manhole base consists of a section of monolithically poured manhole barrel with channeled concrete between the inverts of inlet/outlet pipes with a minimum slope of 25mm or 1". The channeled concrete is smooth finished and in most cases a gasketed opening is provided for the insertion of inlet/outlet pipes. The manhole base has a joint on the top to allow for riser sections to be placed to reach the installation invert. The pre-cast, pre-benched manhole base allows for a high quality and quick alternative to cast in place benching. Using pre-cast, pre-benched manhole bases minimize construction time in the field and ensures a quality, long term solution in building storm and sanitary sewer infrastructure. Most pre-benched manhole bases are custom built for the contractor where the angles between the inlet/outlet mains require specific layout. In some cases straight through, 45 or 90 degree configurations are available for standard pipe sizes of 100-200 mm. 2, record 2, English, - pre%2Dbenched%20manhole

The guns, so-called, are pressure vessels about 6 in. in diameter and 30 in. long. They are provided with a steam inlet, a bleed-off valve, and a means for heating the gun-usually by a gas flame. A charge of pellets [made from cereals] at 11 to 12% moisture is dropped into the open end of the gun from a gravity chute leading from the storage bins on the floor above. The end of the gun is sealed by a trip-valve. All valves are closed, sealing the gun. If the gun is heated by gas flames, it is slowly rotated while the temperature, and consequently the pressure, is slowly built up. The temperature may reach 500 to 800 degrees F, and the pressure at the end point may be 100 to 200 psi.... When the pressure reaches the necessary level, the end of the gun is suddenly opened by a trigger mechanism. The contents explode... into a cage or bin with a floor opening leading to a conveyor belt. 3, record 5, English, - puffing%20gun

A floating flame is an indication that there is a lack of secondary air to the flame. In severe cases, the flame will leave the burner and have the appearance of a floating cloud. Again, the intermediate products of combustion are apt to escape from place to place wherever sufficient air for combustion may be found. This flame is sometimes hard to detect because, as the door to the equipment is opened sufficient air will be admitted to allow the flame to rest on the burner properly. However, the obnoxious odor of aldehydes may still be detected. Another possible cause of this flame is an improperly operating vent system. If the products of combustion cannot escape, fresh air cannot reach the flame 1, record 8, English, - floating%20flame
Record number: 8, Textual support number: 2 CONT
When a flame raises off the burner it is important to determine if it is a "lifting flame" or a "floating flame" :"Lifting Flames" rise from the ports to burn some distance above the ports. In some cases these flames will drop back to the port and lift again intermittently. They are caused by too much primary air. Decreasing the shutter opening will stop lifting flames. "Floating Flames" are long and lazy looking, poorly defined, quiet flames which roll around the combustion chamber sometimes completely off the ports. Floating flames result from too little secondary or "make up" air. Lack of secondary air can be caused by incorrect venting, clogged flueways, blocked secondary air inlet openings, or lack of natural room makeup air to the oven. 2, record 8, English, - floating%20flame

A device for small installations, comprising one or more pits extending into porous strata and lined with open-jointed stone, concrete block, precast concrete, or similar walls, capped, and provided with a means of access, such as a manhole cover. It serves to introduce into the ground, by seepage, the partly treated effluent of a water-carriage wastewater disposal system. 2, record 13, English, - seepage%20pit
Record number: 13, Textual support number: 1 CONT
The seepage pit is usually made of concrete block or is a precast concrete unit. Typically, 8-in. thick block are used, and they are laid with the cells(holes) placed horizontally to allow the effluent to seep into the ground. The tapered cells of the block are set with the widest area to the outside to reduce the amount of loose material behind the lining that might fall into the pit. The typical precast concrete seepage pit shown in Fig. 5-14 is the same unit used for drywells. The bottom of the pit is lined with coarse gravel a minimum of 1 ft deep before the block or concrete is placed. Between the block or concrete and the soil is a minimum of 6 in. of clean crushed stone or gravel. Straw is placed on top of the gravel to keep sand from filtering down and reducing the effectiveness of the gravel. The top of the pit should have an opening with a watertight cover to provide access to the pit if necessary. The construction of the pit above the inlet pipe should be watertight. 3, record 13, English, - seepage%20pit

In order to more readily understand a steam booster we should cover the basic construction of an average steam booster which would be as follows : A series of copper tubings or coils are fastened together so that a 120° water can be supplied at one end and(if all other requirements are met) 180° water will pass through the other end. This series of coils is placed inside a heavy metal container, the container also has an inlet and an outlet, into which we pass live steam at the required pressures. The steam circulates around the coils and losing its heat by transferring its high temperature to the lower temperature water, soon condensation accumulates at the bottom of the container. The condensation then passes through the discharge opening into either a waste line or what is known as a return line which is piped directly to the boiler where it is again heated into steam for recycling through the very same booster. 1, record 15, English, - steam%20booster

1, record 15, French, - r%C3%A9chauffeur%20%C3%A0%20vapeur
