A typical micronic type filter... utilizes an element made of specially treated paper which is formed in vertical convolutions(wrinkles). An internal spring holds the elements in shape. The micronic element is designed to prevent the passage of solids greater than 10 microns(0. 000394 inch) in size. In the event that the filter element becomes clogged, the spring loaded relief valve in the filter head will bypass the fluid after a differential pressure of 50 p. s. i. has been built up. Hydraulic fluid enters the filter through the inlet port in the filter body and flows around the element inside the bowl. Filtering takes place as the fluid passes through the element into the hollow core, leaving the foreign material on the outside of the element. 3, record 18, English, - micron%20filter

Two-stage line-type hydraulic system filters are being used in some recent aircraft models. The typical two-stage filter has two filter elements, two bypass valves, and two differential pressure indicators. The first-stage element can filter out smaller particles than the second-stage element can. Normally, the fluid passes through both elements, flowing first through the first stage element. As long as the first stage element is unclogged and functioning, there will be no foreign matter left for the second-stage element to remove. However, if the first-stage element becomes clogged, its bypass valve opens and fluid goes directly from the filter inlet port to the second-stage element, which then takes over the job of filtering out foreign particles. 3, record 20, English, - two%2Dstage%20filter

A floating flame is an indication that there is a lack of secondary air to the flame. In severe cases, the flame will leave the burner and have the appearance of a floating cloud. Again, the intermediate products of combustion are apt to escape from place to place wherever sufficient air for combustion may be found. This flame is sometimes hard to detect because, as the door to the equipment is opened sufficient air will be admitted to allow the flame to rest on the burner properly. However, the obnoxious odor of aldehydes may still be detected. Another possible cause of this flame is an improperly operating vent system. If the products of combustion cannot escape, fresh air cannot reach the flame 1, record 21, English, - floating%20flame
Record number: 21, Textual support number: 2 CONT
When a flame raises off the burner it is important to determine if it is a "lifting flame" or a "floating flame" :"Lifting Flames" rise from the ports to burn some distance above the ports. In some cases these flames will drop back to the port and lift again intermittently. They are caused by too much primary air. Decreasing the shutter opening will stop lifting flames. "Floating Flames" are long and lazy looking, poorly defined, quiet flames which roll around the combustion chamber sometimes completely off the ports. Floating flames result from too little secondary or "make up" air. Lack of secondary air can be caused by incorrect venting, clogged flueways, blocked secondary air inlet openings, or lack of natural room makeup air to the oven. 2, record 21, English, - floating%20flame
