Van Allen belts. Two doughnut-shaped belts in the Earth's magnetosphere(inner belt some 3000 km above the surface; outer belt, 18, 000-20, 000 km above the surface), where many energetic charged particles from the solar wind are trapped in Earth's magnetic field. 4, record 1, English, - radiation%20belts
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 2 CONT
The Van Allen radiation belt is a torus of energetic charged particles around Earth, trapped by Earth's magnetic field.... Qualitatively, it is useful to view this belt as consisting of two belts around Earth, the inner radiation belt and the outer radiation belt. The particles are distributed such that the inner belt consists mostly of protons while the outer belt consists mostly of electrons. 5, record 1, English, - radiation%20belts

The most common type of CVT employs a steel belt and two pulleys. Rather than step among four or five gears of different sizes, the CVT varies the effective diameter of the drive pulley and driven pulley to create a broad range of drive ratios free of the shift feel of conventional transmissions. Imagine riding a bike on which the sprocket and rear gear magically change size without requiring the chain to jump from one gear to another, and you have the basic idea. By increasing or decreasing the space between the pulleys’ respective halves, the CVT varies the effective diameter of the conical inner surfaces on which the belt rides. It varies these parameters at any time, at any engine or vehicle speed. 4, record 2, English, - continuously%20variable%20transmission
