Subject field(s)
  • Physics
  • The Sun (Astronomy)

  • Soleil (Astronomie)
DEF

Record 2 1977-09-14

English

Subject field(s)
  • Astronomy
OBS

Two parts of the corona are recognized : the inner "real" part, or K corona, and the outer, "false" part, or F(Fraunhofer) corona. The F corona has a solar-type spectrum that shows it to be sunlight, apparently reflected by tiny particles; presumably the F corona is an inner extension of the zodiacal light.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Astronomie
OBS

Record 3 1977-09-14

English

Subject field(s)
  • Astronomy
OBS

[The corona's] feeble light, which averages only half as bright as the light of the full moon, is generally lost in the glare of the sky around the uneclipsed sun. Half of this light comes from the inner corona which is within 3’, or less than 160, 000 kilometers, from the sun's surface.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Astronomie
OBS
