Established in November 1987, under the umbrella of the Standing Committee on Scientific and Technical Cooperation. The main objective is to facilitate the exchange of scientific data and information, and the transfer of knowledge resulting from researches in marine sciences, and to maintain continuing dialogue with the member countries on the development of ocean services.
