INORGANIC NITRATE [4 records]

Record 1 2021-10-04

English

Subject field(s)
  • Aquaculture
DEF

A procedure in which the water is completely drained from the pond to improve the fertility by enabling air to penetrate the sediments and by assisting in the breakdown and mineralization of organic matter [that] produces inorganic nutrients(nitrate, phosphate, carbonate).

PHR

pond dry-out

French

Domaine(s)
  • Aquaculture
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Toxicology
  • Food Industries
  • Collaboration with the FAO
CONT

Bromide, nitrite and nitrate are all used as food additives; of all the studied inorganic anions, they are the most important in terms of food chain contamination because of their potential toxicity.

Record 3 2017-08-10

English

Subject field(s)
  • Pollutants
  • Water Pollution
  • Food Safety
CONT

Metals (inorganic micropollutants) are natural components of aquatic systems and some of them are essential for life. However, human need for energy (e.g., burning of fossil fuels) and minerals (e.g., smelting of metallic ores) provoke an increase in the concentrations of essential metals, but also of toxic ones such as cadmium, mercury or lead.

OBS

[Examples of] inorganic micro-pollutants[ :] nitrate, fluoride ions, boron, arsenic as well as chromium and heavy metals.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Agents de pollution
  • Pollution de l'eau
  • Salubrité alimentaire
OBS

Record 4 2003-04-15

English

Subject field(s)
  • Chemical Elements and Compounds
  • Pollutants
  • Crop Protection
CONT

Secondary pollutants formed in the photochemical reactions include ozone, N-nitroso compounds, and peroxyacetylnitrate as well as nitric acid and inorganic nitrates.

CONT

The primary inorganic nitrates which may contaminate drinking water are potassium nitrate and ammonium nitrate both of which are widely used as fertilizers.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Éléments et composés chimiques
  • Agents de pollution
  • Protection des végétaux
CONT
