... noise has its most deleterious effect on reception quality when it occurs in the input circuitry of the receiver, since this is usually where the basic signal-to-noise ratio is established. The generation of noise in this area is principally caused by thermal agitation in resistive input components. When the incoming signal is too weak to override this noise, a visual effect is displayed on the picture tube that is commonly referred to as snow. Although there are other types of noise that produce different visual effects, snow is the most common visual effect. 3, record 9, English, - snow

SASS was founded in 1987 after the abduction and murder of 11 year-old Alison Parrott in Toronto. SASS very quickly grew from a program successfully launched and initially distributed in the Toronto area, to a national program taught in elementary schools and made available in English and French. All program materials are carefully researched with input from child psychologists, teachers, police, and kids themselves. To reinforce the safety messages in a positive manner, Bert and Gert, the Alert Twins, were conceived. Just as Elmer the Elephant delivered traffic safety to kids in the 60's and 70's, Bert and Gert became familiar streetproofing safety rabbits to kids in the 80's and 90's. 1, record 16, English, - Stay%20Alert%20%2E%2E%2E%20Stay%20Safe

The Meteorological Data Collection and Reporting System(MDCRS) is designed to support improved weather forecasting, particularly for upper-air wind and severe weather. First developed for the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Weather Service in 1991, the system collects and organizes up to 28, 000 real time, automated position and weather reports per day from participating aircraft. The data is then forewarded to the NWS World Area Forecasting Center in Maryland, USA, where it's used as input for their predictive weather models. 2, record 18, English, - Meteorological%20Data%20Collection%20and%20Reporting%20System

The financial control area of the coding block can be used to accommodate requirements of individual departments such as work order code, project code, province, and the like. There is no theoretical limit to the number of imposed coding fields, although no one dictionary in the CAS(Central Accounting System) may impose more than 25 digits with a total limit of 80 digits in the CAS for all such fields. The 25-digit input coding block and the use of collator numbers are also relevant in the determination of the total digits available for coding and classification purposes. 1, record 28, English, - imposed%20coding%20field

1, record 28, French, - zone%20de%20codage%20impos%C3%A9e

Just as the cell doctrine has proved central in biology, and germ theory is pivotal in the area of disease, so the concept of physical symbol system is deemed by Simon and Newell and their colleagues at Carnegie-Mellon as the core doctrine in the area of computer science. Proceeding in Boolean spirit, the job of the theorist is to identify that set of processes which operates on symbolic expressions in order to produce other expressions that create, modify, reproduce, and/or transform symbolic structures. A physical symbol system is necessary and sufficient to carry out intelligent actions; and, conversely, any system that exhibits general intelligence will prove upon analysis to be a physical symbol system. Such a system consists of a control, a memory, a set of operations, and input and output : its input consists of objects in certain locations; its processes are operations upon the input; its output is the modification or re-creation of objects in certain locations. 1, record 32, English, - physical%20symbol%20system

1, record 32, French, - syst%C3%A8me%20de%20symboles%20physiques

The momentum exchange device determines the energy input of a WECS. The amount of energy exchanged is limited by the area intercepted by the device and by its efficiency. Efforts to enhance the efficiency of energy collection generally involve some acceleration of the airflow through the rotor. Examples of innovative concepts include the shrouded generators : the diffuser and confined and unconfined vortices. 1, record 33, English, - momentum%20exchange%20device

1, record 33, French, - capteur%20d%27%C3%A9nergie
