English

Subject field(s)
  • Artificial Intelligence
DEF

The identification of patterns, structures or configurations by a software entity or a hardware entity equipped with software components.

CONT

Pattern recognition systems take input data such as a picture or a voiceprint and assign the input to one of two or more classes. Pattern recognition is a data-reduction task.

OBS

pattern recognition: designation officially approved by the RADARSAT-2 Terminology Approval Group (RTAG).

OBS

pattern recognition: designation standardized by ISO in collaboration with the International Electrotechnical Commission and by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Intelligence artificielle
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Pricing Theory
  • Statistical Graphs and Diagrams
OBS

The common-sense numerical analysis of the way in which a firm will combine inputs to minimize costs can be made more vivid by the use of diagrams. From the production schedule we can draw a picture of the different input combinations that will produce a given output. Figure 27-3 is the exact counterpart of Table 27-2, In it the smooth curve indicates the different combinations of labor and land that yield an output of 346. This could be called a "production-indifference" by analogy with the consumer's indifference curve(...)

English

Subject field(s)
  • Television (Radioelectricity)
  • Radar, Radio Guidance and Goniometry
DEF

Small, random, white spots produced on a television or radar screen by inherent noise signals originating in the receiver.

CONT

... noise has its most deleterious effect on reception quality when it occurs in the input circuitry of the receiver, since this is usually where the basic signal-to-noise ratio is established. The generation of noise in this area is principally caused by thermal agitation in resistive input components. When the incoming signal is too weak to override this noise, a visual effect is displayed on the picture tube that is commonly referred to as snow. Although there are other types of noise that produce different visual effects, snow is the most common visual effect.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Télévision (Radioélectricité)
  • Radar, radioguidage et radiogoniométrie
OBS

DEF

Record 5 2004-05-25

English

Subject field(s)
  • Television (Radioelectricity)
DEF

The disturbing effect of any undesired signal.

CONT

At the input to the first intermediate-frequency stage, three trap circuits are used to remove some sources of picture interference.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Télévision (Radioélectricité)
DEF

Record 6 2001-06-01

English

Subject field(s)
  • Audiovisual Techniques and Equipment
  • Television (Radioelectricity)
  • Video Technology
CONT

Component Video Interconnects. Inputs 1 and 2 of the SD-641-HD5 have a 3rd type of input connection called a Component Connection(also found on better DVD players and HDTV set top boxes). This consists of 3 pin-type, or "RCA" jacks, and gives the best high resolution picture(it does this by transmitting the black and white information on one wire labeled Y, the difference between the black and white and red information on a second wire Yr, and the difference between the black and white and blue information on a third independent wire labeled Yb). HDTV monitors such as the SD-641-HD5 can accept signals from HDTV tuners and display 1080I HDTV images when using these component inputs, which can detect and display either HDTV from an HDTV tuner or NTSC signals from the component outputs of a DVD player.

CONT

With these sources, a component connection eliminates still another stage of processing inside the TV set. In terms of image quality, the step from S-video to component video is less noticeable than that from composite- to S-video, but it can still make a noticeable difference on some sets.

  • Télévision (Radioélectricité)
  • Vidéotechnique
CONT
