A particularly difficult problem in timing is to obtain a signal that is precisely related in time to the event. A time pick-off circuit is employed to produce a logic output pulse that is consistently related in time to the beginning of each input signal. Energy spectroscopy. For energy analysis the output current pulse from a PMT [photomultiplier tube] or from a semiconductor detector is often applied to a charge-sensitive preamplifier. The preamplifier produces a voltage pulse with a peak amplitude that is proportional to the total charge in the current pulse, which is proportional to the energy absorbed from the incident radiation. Amplifiers and filters are used to expand the range of the peak amplitude and to shape the signal from the preamplifier, a process that maximizes the signal-to-noise ratio for the system. For energy analysis the peak amplitude of the shaped pulse represents the information of interest. Discriminators and single-channel analyzers(SCA) can be used, following the signal shaping system, to determine the presence of certain energies of detected radiation. A discriminator produces an output logic pulse if it's input signal exceeds a preset threshold level. An SCA produces an output logic pulse if the peak amplitude of it's input signal falls within the energy window that is established with two preset threshold levels. 1, record 4, English, - energy%20spectroscopy

Various methods have been proposed to implement a digital-to-analog converter(DAC). One such method is to create a pulse train whose average value is equal to the magnitude of the digital input and then average the pulse train by passing it through a low-pass filter. Conventionally, pulse wave modulators(PWM) are used to create the pulse train from a digital input signal. However, the quality of the analog signal that results from the filtered pulse train may contain considerable noise unless an expensive low-pass filter is constructed. 1, record 13, English, - pulse%20wave%20modulator

The current sector status(position) is maintained and updated throughout each spin cycle. This logic information on the spin status is interfaced with both the precession command logic and active nutation control logic. In the precession logic the current sector status is compared with a ground command consisting of three parts : sector ID to start firing a precession thruster, sector ID to stop firing a precession thruster and the number of consecutive spin cycles during which the precession jet will be fired. 2, record 14, English, - precession%20command

Record number: 20, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Pulsed spray welding is a variation of the MIG welding process that is capable of all-position welding at higher energy levels than short circuiting arc welding. The power source provides two current levels; a steady "background" level, which is too low to produce spray transfer; and a "pulsed peak" current, which is superimposed upon the background current at a regulated interval. The pulse peak is well above the transition current, and usually one drop is transferred during each pulse. The combination of the two levels of current produces a steady arc with axial spray transfer at effective welding currents below those required for conventional spray arc welding. Because the heat input is lower, this variation in operation is capable of welding thinner sections than are practical with the conventional spray transfer. 3, record 20, English, - pulsed%20spray%20welding

The representation of a general pulse transmission system is given in Figure 8. 1. Here, the information input to the system is encoded in some sense.... This encoded signal drives the modulator, which maps the pulse sequence into an analog wave suitable for transmission over the channel.... At the receiving end, the demodulator maps the received analog waveform into a pulse sequence that is a "best guess" of the sequence transmitted. The decoder operates on the binary sequence to extract the information originally impressed on the encoder. The overall objective is to transfer the information from the input to the output within some a priori specified low error rate, where the error rate is the average number of disagreements per unit of time between the inputs and the outputs. 1, record 29, English, - pulse%20transmission%20system
