Knockdown insecticides... are the insecticides that we use in our homes in pressure-pack spray cans. The insecticide is released into the air in the form of an aerosol or vapour. Knockdown insecticides are also dispersed by mosquito coils and, for larger areas, by fogging and misting. The insect comes into physical contact with the vapour or aerosol, generally when in flight. The pyrethrum in the spray paralyses the insect while another mild toxic element kills the insect. 1, record 1, English, - knockdown%20insecticide

Malathion is used both as a protectant on grain to prevent insect damage and as an insecticide for controlling established infestations. While less toxic to mammals than many other insecticides, it is poisonous and care should be exercised in its application. Malathion doesn’t have a fast knock-down action like pyrethrins, but is a much better residual insecticide. A malathion spray of 1% remains active up to four weeks on concrete surfaces and up to a year on wooden and metal surfaces. 4, record 9, English, - malathion

3, record 9, French, - malathion
