INSERTION ELEMENT [8 records]

Record 1 2012-07-11

English

Subject field(s)
  • Genetics
DEF

A type of transposable element that inactivates the genes in which it is inserted.

OBS

Insertion sequences (700-1400 base pairs) are smaller than transposons and are flanked by short (five to nine bases) direct repeats of host sequences.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Génétique
DEF

CONT

Inserting an element involves placing that element's markup within the markup of the file. This applies to all insertions, including, but not limited to, direct coding in a text editing mode, choosing an automated insertion from a pull-down menu or tool bar button, drag-and-drop style insertions, or paste operations.

OBS

Record 6 1992-06-04

English

Subject field(s)
  • Muscles and Tendons
CONT

Muscles are made of cells, filaments, which slip one on top of another... tension generated by cross bridge activity is transmitted to the muscle cells surfaces and then through the connective tissue wrappings to the load(the muscle insertion) before work is done. All of these non contractile structures are collectively called the series-elastic element, since they are able to stretch and recoil.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Muscles et tendons
CONT
