CONT

French

Domaine(s)
  • Os et articulations

English

Subject field(s)
  • Molecular Biology
  • Biotechnology
DEF

The physical insertion site of DNA into the host cell genome.

OBS

The process is used by retroviruses where a specific enzyme catalyses the process or can occur at random sites with other DNA (eg. transposons).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Biologie moléculaire
  • Biotechnologie
DEF

Record 7 2009-05-22

English

Subject field(s)
  • Genetics
DEF

A unique restriction site in a vector DNA molecule into which foreign DNA can readily be inserted. This is achieved by treating both the vector and the insert with the relevant restriction endonuclease and then ligating the two different molecules, both having the same sticky ends.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Génétique
DEF

Record 8 2005-02-02

English

Subject field(s)
  • Genetics
CONT

The rescue plasmid pRSQ2-URA3 was integrated into the transposon and excised so as to recover DNA sequence flanking the insertion.

CONT

A rescue plasmid designed to integrate at the site of the mini-Tn3 insertion was used to identify the defective gene in one of the mutant strains, HCY53, which was not allelic to IMP2.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Génétique
CONT

Record 10 2001-11-02

English

Subject field(s)
  • Genetics
DEF

A cloning vehicle which has a single cleavage site for one or more restriction endonucleases, thus allowing the insertion of a fragment of foreign DNA.

CONT

Avipoxviruses, including Fowlpoxvirus (FPV) have been shown previously to infect mammalian cells but are unable to complete their replication cycle. Avipoxvirus based rabies and HIV vaccines have shown promise in preclinical studies. We have begun work to develop the FPV system for application to HPV CTL. We first constructed a new FPV insertion vector (Fig. 3) which facilitates production of recombinant viruses by co-insertion of the gpt marker gene under the control of a vaccinia virus 19K promoter. The gene of interest is inserted into a polylinker downstream of the vaccinia virus 7.5K promoter.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Génétique
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Genetics
CONT

In the ideal world, the diseases would be cured for life by one treatment, with no side effects. And gene insertion into a chromosome in a target somatic cell would be site specific; in what is called homologous recombination, the healthy, or "therapeutic, "gene would exactly replace the damaged copy

French

Domaine(s)
  • Génétique
CONT
