INSHORE ENVIRONMENT [2 records]

Record 1 2009-07-24

English

Subject field(s)
  • Biogeography
  • Oceanography
CONT

Coastal and marine environment comprises the seas and oceans. A coast may take many forms, namely beaches, brackish ponds, mud flats, salt marshes, etc.

CONT

In the coastal and marine environment, the biophysical features are similar to those in freshwater, especially in coastal areas, however some specific considerations have to be addressed such as marine vegetation, tides, offshore currents.

CONT

In the inshore environment, materials describing protected species interactions and the implications of these are generally not as widely available, or as widely distributed, as in deepwater fisheries.

OBS

inshore environment : term used at Natural Resources Canada-Earth Sciences Sector.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Biogéographie
  • Océanographie
CONT

DEF

Relating to freshwater environments, like lakes and rivers.

CONT

"Stress in Limnic Ecosystems" presents new fundamental approaches to the ecotoxilogical evaluation of inshore waters, focusing on the interaction between humic and synthetic substances, which are manufactured and introduced into the environment(xenobiotics), as well as the effects of such stressors, which interfere with the hormone balance of organisms that live in inshore waters.

PHR

Limnic conditions, limnic ecosystem, limnic environment, limnic species.

CONT

PHR

Écosystème limnique.
