The radioactive concentrate, which is in the form of a liquid slurry or filtered solid of high moisture content, is introduced under vigorous mixing into a liquid bitumen bath, temperature of which is maintained at 150 degrees C or 230 degrees C (...) During the mixing process the water is completely evaporated and the solid residue is uniformly dispersed into the bitumen. When a concentration of 40 to 45 % of dry solids in the bitumen is reached (...) the mixture is transferred into disposal drums. 1, record 1, English, - insolubilization%20with%20bitumen

Method devised by Brown which is particularly useful when, owing to its chemical nature, insolubilization of an enzyme cannot be achieved by glutaraldehyde crosslinking alone. To eliminate the loss of enzyme activity due to diffusion effects caused by crosslinking, reactions enzymes, at low concentrations, are crosslinked via glutaraldehyde to a nonenzymic protein which is rich in L-lysine residues(such as bovine serum albumin), and the resultant immobilized enzyme can be insolubilized by gel entrapment methods.

Record number: 3, Textual support number: 2 CONT
1, record 3, French, - insolubilisation
