Mothballing is the process of stabilizing a facility so that no damage occurs to the facility should it make sense at a later time to incur the capital expenditures associated with continuing to operate, extending the life, or repowering the facility. Typically, a decision to mothball a facility might be made as a hedge against, or in anticipation of, changes in market conditions; i. e., increases in relative fuel prices, or an increase in the value of installed capacity.... In Europe, three countries, Germany, Greece and Austria stand out from the rest, alone representing 74. 3% of the solar collector surface installed as of today. Germany is in first place with a total of 2 630 000 m2 at the end 1998. Since 1991, the date which marked the real boom in thermal solar power in Germany, the country has experienced literally no interruption in the pace of its domestic market. In an electric furnace, the resistance-type heating element either heats the circulating air directly or through a metal sheath enclosing the resisting element.

Even though electric heating is not new, forced air electric furnaces have been available in large quantities for only a few years. Terminal elevator driers have a wide range of capacities but most vary from 15 to 110 tonnes per hour. Most Canadian terminals have a modest total drying capacity since their use is erratic.
