Instance segmentation goes a step further [than semantic segmentation] by not only identifying the category of an object but also delineating its individual boundaries. This allows us to distinguish between multiple instances of the same class. For example, if an image contains multiple cars, instance segmentation would assign a unique label to each car, distinguishing them from one another. 2, record 1, English, - instance%20segmentation

3, record 1, French, - segmentation%20d%27instances

Another important subject within computer vision is image segmentation. It is the process of dividing an image into different regions based on the characteristics of pixels to identify objects or boundaries to simplify an image and more efficiently analyze it. Segmentation impacts a number of domains, from the filmmaking industry to the field of medicine. For instance, the software behind green screens implements image segmentation to crop out the foreground and place it on a background for scenes that cannot be shot or would be dangerous to shoot in real life 2, record 2, English, - image%20segmentation

1, record 2, French, - segmentation%20d%27images

In the context of computer vision, panoptic segmentation aspires to capture "everything visible" in an image. It achieves this by combining the capabilities of semantic segmentation, which assigns a class label to each pixel(e. g., car, person, tree), and instance segmentation, which identifies and separates individual object instances within a class(e. g., distinguishing between multiple cars in an image). 2, record 3, English, - panoptic%20segmentation

2, record 3, French, - segmentation%20panoptique
