INSTANTANEOUS CONDITIONS [4 records]

Record 1 2009-06-22

English

Subject field(s)
  • Air Traffic Control
CONT

The peak instantaneous aircraft count, also called the instantaneous peak, is the number of flights simultaneously present in the airspace region during peak period conditions. This concept differs from the rate of flow concept underlying the other peak measures. The instantaneous peak is equal to the rate of arrival of flights at the boundary of the airspace(in peak conditions) multiplied by the average time that each flight spends in the airspace.

Subject field(s)
  • Hydrology and Hydrography
DEF

An aquifer test made either by pouring a small instantaneous charge of water into a well or by withdrawing a slug of water from the well. The rate of recovery of the water table to equilibrium conditions is monitored as the stress is applied to the aquifer. Information from slug tests can be used to estimate the hydraulic conductivity of the aquifer.
