KNEE RECONSTRUCTION [6 records]

Record 1 2013-04-02

English

Subject field(s)
  • Physiotherapy
DEF

A form of passive mobilization, assisting in the recovery of cartilage. Used commonly following knee reconstruction.

CONT

A prospective, controlled, randomized trial of continuous passive motion and immobilization after knee arthroplasty revealed that continuous passive motion significantly improved early and late flexion of the knee, reduced the duration of stay in the hospital, and did not increase the incidence of superficial infection or problems with wound-healing.

OBS

passive motion: any movement of the body effected by a force entirely outside of the organism.

Record 2 2005-09-21

Subject field(s)
  • Musculoskeletal System
CONT

Autologous tendon grafts still remain the best material for the reconstruction of the knee ligaments. They provide the most constant and durable results. For the cases of important postero-posterolateral instability, strong and biomechanically correct techniques of reconstruction exist, but most publications state the fact that laxities progressively reappear in the course of the rehabilitation, that is during the crucial period of fragility of the transplants due to remodeling.

Subject field(s)
  • Orthopedic Surgery
DEF

Surgical restoration of "normal" biomechanics of the knee, using tendon grafts to replace damaged tissues.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Chirurgie orthopédique
CONT

Chez les patients ayant eu une prothèse unicompartimentaire, des défects osseux ont nécessité une reconstruction du genou dans 77 % des cas, c'est-à-dire pour 23 genoux.

Record 4 2000-09-27

English

Subject field(s)
  • Orthopedic Surgery
CONT

Knee flexor and extensor strength during concentric and eccentric muscle actions after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using the semitendinosus tendon and ligament augmentation device.

CONT

Twenty-five patients from a consecutive group of 75 patients undergoing patellar tendon autograft anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction had the Kennedy Ligament Augmentation Device (LAD) added to the autograft.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Chirurgie orthopédique
CONT

English

Subject field(s)
  • Orthopedic Surgery
CONT

Proprioceptive function of the knee was quantified and compared in 3 groups of patients : ACL deficient, hamstring/LAD ACL reconstruction, and bone patellar bone-tendon ACL reconstruction.

Record 6 2000-09-19

English

Subject field(s)
  • Orthopedic Surgery
OBS

The ACL(Anterior Cruciate Ligament) is a ligament in the center of your knee that becomes damaged when twisted too far, such as in a skiing injury. ACL Reconstruction is performed using a combination of open surgery and arthroscopic surgery.
