1, record 16, French, - test%20de%20Foucault

By this process, a low voltage, high amperage current is fed into the saw blade. The workpiece is connected to the opposite pole of the circuit. When the work comes close to the fast-moving band(6, 000 sfpm), a continuous electric spark passes from the knife edge of the saw to the work. This arc acts on the material and disintegrates it. The blade does not touch the work. 2, record 32, English, - electro%2Dband%20machining

axe, cooper's. A thin flat T-shaped blade, 10-12 in measured along the cutting edge, without a poll, and ground on one side only. The tapered socket springs from the middle of the back of the blade; in some patterns it is an extension of the blade, bent over to form a triangular socket. The handle is offset.... This tool is used for listing staves, i. e. chopping off the "waney" irregular edges and trimming them; this is done with the stave held almost horizontal on the block. It is also used for rough-shaping the circular outline of the heads and for chopping away the bevel on the back of the heads before using the Heading Knife.... 1, record 34, English, - cooper%26rsquo%3Bs%20axe

The microsplit designed by Otto(...) seems to be the best instrument for splitting small samples. The microsplit is made on the general plan of the Jones sample splitter but is of more precise construction. The sample is poured into an inverted roof-shaped hopper at the top of the instrument. At the base of the hopper it falls through a series of plates about a millimeter apart, which are arranged perpendicular to the long direction of the hopper. A knife edge at the base of the plates splits the sample into two parts. The splitting is repeated until a fraction of the desired size is obtained. 1, record 43, English, - Otto%20microsplit
