An adhesive, usually a coating of wax is applied to the emulsion side of a wrong reading image positive stripping film. A sharp but delicate knife is used to cut around the type image and using a pair of tweezers, the thin emulsion layer is peeled off and positioned on a clear map overlay. Finally, by using a burnishing tool, the thin emulsion layer containing the type image and coated with wax, is rubbed down thereby ensuring better adhesion.

4, record 4, French, - positionnement%20des%20%C3%A9critures

Incising nose bar. Veneer incising at the lathe, a technology developed at Forintek, is being increasingly applied in the plywood and laminated veneer lumber(LVL) industry.... Both laboratory and mill studies have shown that by incising the veneer while peeling, i. e., putting incisions on the tight side of the veneer in the direction of the grain and pulling veneer through the knife, the following benefits result : fewer spinouts during peeling; flatter veneer; higher veneer recovery; faster drying times; better bonding; fewer blows during pressing. 1, record 8, English, - incising%20nose%20bar

The knife is handmade; it consists of a flat blade, bent laterally upward and sharp on one side. It is set into a wooden handle that projects away from the user, thus providing a place for his thumb to rest. The shape of the knife, and the way it is handled, permits very close control of the blade. 1, record 16, English, - crooked%20knife

The tapered socket springs from the middle of the back of the blade; in some patterns it is an extension of the blade, bent over to form a triangular socket. The handle is offset.... This tool is used for listing staves, i. e. chopping off the "waney" irregular edges and trimming them; this is done with the stave held almost horizontal on the block.
