The oxygen sensor(also known as an O2 sensor, lambda sensor, or EGO sensor) is one of the most critical sensors on a fuel-injected engine. It resembles a spark plug and is located in the exhaust manifold between the turbo and catalytic converter. When at operating temperature it becomes a miniature battery which generates a voltage based on the differential between the oxygen content of the exhaust gas and the oxygen content of the ambient air. By this method it measures the amount of oxygen in the exhaust stream, allowing the ECM to compensate to some degree for various fuel grades, engine wear, altitude changes, usage of oxygenated fuel, and more. Another big benefit is the ability to keep emissions of carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen, and unburned hydrocarbons as low as possible. 3, record 13, English, - oxygen%20sensor

3, record 13, French, - sonde%20d%27oxyg%C3%A8ne%20des%20gaz%20d%27%C3%A9chappement

Photometry is the measurement and specification of light relating to its effect on vision. The eye can be regarded as a radiant energy detector with a selective spectral response. 3, record 16, French, - efficacit%C3%A9%20lumineuse%20relative%20spectrale

Because the O2 sensor must be pre-heated to function, many newer units contain a little 12 volt heater that brings it up to temperature sooner, offering better fuel economy and driveability earlier. These sensors can be identified by the number of wires coming out of the unit. Just one wire means you don’t have a heater. Those that have three wires use one for the signal, and two for the heater circuit. Those that have four wires use one for the signal, one for the signal’s ground, and two for the heater. In this case usually the signal wire is shielded against interference, much like common television coaxial cable. 4, record 47, English, - heated%20exhaust%20gas%20oxygen%20sensor

Most engines with a turbo use sensors with heaters because the turbo steals so much of the superheat energy as it uses it to pump additional air in the intake. 3, record 47, French, - sonde%20d%27oxyg%C3%A8ne%20chauffante

In the geosciences, a commonly used form of harmonics are the surface spherical harmonics. These functions are much used in geodesy because they are relatively simple to use and because the earth's shape can be approximated by a sphere. The coordinates normally associated with spherical harmonics are the spherical coordinates : radius r, co-latitude or polar distance(Theta), and longitude(Lambda).... The surface spherical harmonics are Legendre functions multiplied by cos m(Lambda) or sin m(Lambda), where(Lambda) is the longitude... 3, record 49, English, - surface%20spherical%20harmonic

Lambda switching(sometimes called photonic switching, or wavelength switching) is the technology used in optical networking to switch individual wavelengths of light onto separate paths for specific routing of information. In conjunction with technologies such as dense wavelength division multiplexing(DWDM)-which enables 80 or more separate light wavelengths to be transmitted on a single optical fiber-lambda switching enables a light path to behave like a virtual circuit. 1, record 50, English, - lambda%20switching

... pN acts as an antitermination factor at transcription terminators. Evidence now exists for the presence of antitermination sequences within the E. coli chromosome; for example, just past the promoter for rrnG which encodes a rRNA. Nothing is known about how antitermination works in E. coli at this point. However, this suggests that even in the absence of bacteriophage lambda, antitermination is believed to control the level of the transcripts for genes critical to cell growth. This suggests a way that lambda can commandeer the cell by using its pN to increase the levels of primase and sigma 70 for its own replication and gene expression. 2, record 53, English, - antitermination%20factor

Two strategies have been used to clone specific sequences of eukaryotic, genomic DNA in bacteriophage lambda vectors. The first involved cloning of DNA preparations that had been highly enriched for the sequences of interest. Total genomic DNA was digested to completion with a restriction endonuclease and the resulting fragments were separated by preparative gel electrophoresis, reverse-phase column chromatography, or both. The fractions containing the DNA sequences of interest were identified by hybridization to appropriate probes and cloned in bacteriophage lambda vectors. Because these fractionation procedures may yield an overall enrichment of as much as 100-fold to 300-fold, the number of recombinant bacteriophages that had to be generated and screened for the DNA sequences of interest could be significantly reduced. Subsequently, the development of efficient in vitro packaging systems and in situ hybridization techniques eliminated the need to enrich the starting DNA for the sequences of interest. 1, record 63, English, - reverse%20phase%20column%20chromatography
