Thirty years ago, Flexible Modular Scheduling(FMS) divided the day into twenty-minute mini-blocks. These were recombined into teaching blocks, longer for laboratory classes or shorter for lecture classes. FMS proponents said it would improve the teaching climate, reduce misunderstandings, improve self-discipline, and make the day less stressful. What they found was noise, reduced learning, and deteriorated programs as students became complacent. 3, record 1, English, - modular%20scheduling

If we plan to build new tools for education we should not replicate methods that have already failed, such as lecture style teaching. Rather, we should focus on one-to-one tutoring methods and thus, we need to understand the tutoring process. 1, record 3, English, - lecture%20style%20teaching
