3, record 22, French, - capitaux%20propres

The game of quoits is played on a ’rink’, the object being to toss a quoit(a round piece of iron with a round hole in the middle) onto an immovable hub or pin set in the ground, or failing this to get nearer to the pin than one's opponent. Measurements are taken from the central point of the hub. Two pins are used : they are set at least 18 feet apart and are surrounded by beds of clay 4 ft 6 in. in diameter; only one inch of the pin is left exposed. The quoits are thrown at one pin from a line level with the other pin, and should either lodge over the pin or dig into the clay. Each player throws two quoits. 1, record 38, English, - quoit%20rink

Two-stage line-type hydraulic system filters are being used in some recent aircraft models. The typical two-stage filter has two filter elements, two bypass valves, and two differential pressure indicators. The first-stage element can filter out smaller particles than the second-stage element can. Normally, the fluid passes through both elements, flowing first through the first stage element. As long as the first stage element is unclogged and functioning, there will be no foreign matter left for the second-stage element to remove. However, if the first-stage element becomes clogged, its bypass valve opens and fluid goes directly from the filter inlet port to the second-stage element, which then takes over the job of filtering out foreign particles. 3, record 64, English, - two%2Dstage%20filter

In the case of a very dehydrated meal, that's significant water that needs to be added. Just talking in rough terms, would you guess that a vacuum sealed quart sized freezer bag with a dehydrated homemade meal in it would have space for, say, 1-1/2 cup of boiling water to be added? The political terrain on which the environmental debate is conducted today is defined almost entirely by the central premises of the environmental left. The green lobby maintains that ecological resources are by definition public property, or commons, that must be centrally planned and stewarded by bureaucratic agents lest they be recklessly despoiled by industry. Moreover, central planners must not only have nearly complete veto power over private actions that might affect the environment; they must also be empowered to stipulate how much pollution is acceptable and exactly how each business is to go about controlling emissions and even, in some circumstances, how products are manufactured. 2, record 73, English, - green%20lobby

There have been no projects to expand California's intrastate pipeline infrastructure over the past several years. Waves are formed due to the friction of the wind over the water surface. The three main components for wave generation are the wind speed, it's duration and fetch.... How to recognise a swell/wave generating area. On a weather chart there are high and low pressure systems. They are separated by isobars(lines joining places of equal pressure). Buys Ballot's law states :"If you stand with your back to the wind in the northern hemisphere, the low pressure will be on your left. "From this you can deduce the wind flows anticlockwise around a low pressure system and almost parallel to the isobars. The wind near the surface actually flows at an angle of about 15 degrees to the isobars pointing in to the low. The reason for this is that friction with the surface slows the air down and it is this friction which causes waves to form. Assuming you have identified an area of closely packed isobars which are almost straight for 200 miles and the low system is not changing to quickly, you have found a good swell generating area. 3, record 84, English, - wave%20generation%20area

Sugar beets are processed as follows : after removing the juice from the beet pulp, it is refined by double carbonation, during which impure substances such as colorants, salts and proteins are precipitated. After carbonation the juice is heated several times and thickened until it reaches its saturation point. Then it crystallises and a crystalline mass if formed : the masse-cuite. In high-speed centrifuges the masse-cuite is separated into a solid part(sugar) and a liquid part(syrup). ... the nailing of wooden shingles and slates are entirely different. The heads of slating nails should just touch the slate and should not be driven "home" or draw the slate, but left with the heads just clearing the slate hangs on the nail. The opposite is true of wooden shingles and a man used to laying this material will invariably handle slate in the same way. As a consequence the slate, held too rigidly in place, is shattered around the nail hole, or the head of the nail crushed and eventually the slate may "ride" up over the nail and be blown off in a heavy wind... The temptation to use shingle nails instead of slating nails should be discouraged, for the slight saving in cost on the entire roof cannot approach the cost of repairs which may develop as a result of this practice. 2, record 92, English, - slate%20nail

2, record 94, French, - d%C3%A9border

Over the last two years manufacturers-and even some retailers-have had to swallow a painful squeeze on their margins because of surging raw material costs. 1, record 95, French, - atonie

In 1965, India and Pakistan again went to war over disputed territory. Initially, the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan(UNMOGIP) was expected to separate the forces and observe any ceasefire arrangement. But the fighting spread beyond UNMOGIP's area(the state of Jammu and Kashmir), and a second force, the United Nations India-Pakistan Observation Mission(UNIPOM), had to be created solely to supervise the ceasefire along those additional border regions. India and Pakistan then agreed to stop fighting and began to withdraw their soldiers. Early in 1966, all withdrawals were complete and UNIPOM's mission ended, which again left UNMOGIP as the only observer mission in the area. 2, record 96, English, - United%20Nations%20India%2DPakistan%20Observation%20Mission

2, record 96, French, - Mission%20d%27observation%20des%20Nations%20Unies%20pour%20l%27Inde%20et%20le%20Pakistan
