LEFT RIGHT BALANCE [11 records]

Subject field(s)
  • Electronic Music
CONT

... 8D music is mixed in such a way as to make it feel multidimensional. In standard music mixing, most songs are limited to only a few channels. Pop music generally has two channels—left and right... To achieve proper left and right channel balance, audio engineers use equalizers, panning, and effects to keep what [listeners] hear in each ear about the same. In 8D [music], the engineers use these techniques to make it sound like the channels are shifting and the music is moving around [them].

OBS

8D music is best played with earphones or headphones as the effect is lost when played aloud.

Canter on the outside lead, performed [unintentionally].

CONT

In the false canter (Counter Canter) or the canter on the wrong lead, the horse leads with the outside foreleg instead of the inside foreleg as he should.

CONT

The counter canter refers to the horse's ability to take the unnatural lead. In a circle to the right the horse would counter canter in his left lead, in a circle to the left he’d be on the right lead. When used properly, the counter canter can be a tool to encourage the horse to travel with an improved capacity for straightness, balance and rated cadence or speed... The counter canter or a disunited lead can crop up when a horse is positioned incorrectly for a canter depart or lead change. Make sure you’ve asked for the counter canter when it shows up.

CONT

Melissa Cannon has a lovely horse in Northern Express but today is not their day, the horse losing balance few times during the extended trot work and switching legs during the counter canter before asked.

CONT

Coming out of an extended walk that needed more on it, the horse strikes off into canter on the wrong lead but once Blair swaps his legs over the magic begins ...

OBS

In an intentional counter canter, the horse’s body is upright as the lead leg follows the bridge of the nose, which is tipped ever-so-slightly to the outside. In an accidental wrong lead, the horse’s nose is tipped to the inside of the circle causing the inside shoulder to drop when the lead is picked up. They are very different, even though the footfall is the same.

OBS

The term "counter canter" can refer to both an intentional and an incorrect lead.

DEF

To place a tennis ball in such a position on the opposing court, as to force an opponent to stretch out in order just to make contact with the ball.

OBS

"To spread somebody", "to pull/stretch somebody out wide", "to pull somebody out of position" are all closely related expressions to render the ubiquitous French term "déborder". Other quasi-synonyms : in trouble,(to be) pulled off the court,(to be) out of control, threatened(=under threat), forcing shot, ball out of reach, to move sb. around(=move sb. left and right, to run one's opponent(from) corner to corner), to run sb. around the court, to break sb. 's defenses, to be on the defensive position, to keep sb. on the defensive, to run sb. ragged, to move sb. laterally, to move sb. up and back, to keep somebody off-balance, to be off balanced, to have sb. on the ropes/strings, to have sb. on the defensive, to keep sb. off balance, to have sb. run all over the court=to run sb. all over the court=to get/have sb. on the run, to be on the run, to be out of position, to get sb. off the court, to be pressed, to be under pressure, to swing sb. out wide, not to be able to recover from a shot, to dig oneself out of trouble/a big hole,(be) stretch(ed) out(wide), be stretching for the ball, ball out of reach.

CONT

If the serve has driven your opponent wide to one side, do not hesitate to use the resulting space for your first volley.

CONT

If you are forced wide, with your opponent moving to cover a sideline return, a cross court response can put you back in the rally.

CONT

The shot landing near the sideline and between the service line and baseline takes your opponent out wide for his return, opening up the court for your next shot.

CONT

The slice delivery swerves sharply through the air before and after the bounce, staying low as it takes your opponent out of court.

Domaine(s)

DEF

"F. Martin's Recording balance" produced by the Prolabo Co., Paris, works on the hydrometer principle. A cylindrical container is hung from the right balance arm and is surrounded by an external sedimentation cylinder. The suspended material is poured into the cylinder, and the scales are balanced. As the particles gradually settle, the buoyancy operating in the inner cylinder becomes smaller. The force exerted on the left balance beam is therefore increased proportionally to the weight of the settling particles. The scales are automatically kept balanced during the whole sedimentation process.

OBS
