Losee's test... is similar to the jerk test, in that the limb is moved from flexion to extension. If the left knee is being tested, the examiner stands to the left of the patient, grasps the foot with his left hand, flexes the knee to about 40° and uses his abdomen as a fulcrum to apply a valgus stress to the knee. With his right hand he increases the valgus pressure, placing the fingers on the patella and the thumb behind the fibular head..., while simultaneously pulling the upper tibia forward. On subsequent extension, during which the lower leg may rotate inward, a lateral snapping will occur between the femur and tibia at about 20° if there is an anterior cruciate insufficiency with anterolateral rotatory instability... 1, record 2, English, - Losee%26rsquo%3Bs%20test

Segmental pressure analysis is essentially a blood pressure measurement taken at various different locations along the leg. This type of test is usually performed if there is claudication in the leg since this symptom is usually indicative of arterial narrowing. Segmental pressure analysis permits an in-depth analysis of wave form variation in order to determine the level of arterial obstruction. Reactive hyperemia or treadmill studies then show the extent of obstruction by indicating the time required for blood flow to resume to normal after cuff removal. 2, record 7, English, - Doppler%20segmental%20pressure%20measurement

Custom ski leg with knee joints - a ski leg with two knee joints was designed for an above-knee skier. One knee joint was for walking, and the other for skiing. When the leg is used for skiing, the upper knee joint is locked and the lower knee joint is used - controlled by a compression spring - as it keeps the leg in the flexed position required for skiing. With the amputee’s weight on the coil spring, the ski knee can flex as the amputee goes down the hill but will not collapse and buckle. An adjustable ankle to permit the foot to flex to keep the ski parallel to the hill when going down the slopes was also incorporated. 4, record 10, English, - ski%20leg

The author explained that the alternating sciatica was caused by a mobile tumor in the intradural space that accompanied up and down acceleration and deceleration during jogging. Jogging created radicular pain by causing alternating pressure on the nerve roots. ... the Friehe-Grossman Method... depends upon the accurate calibration and operation of the thermoelectric dewpoint instrument on the aircraft. The method requires that each level leg be independently calibrated. The calibration coefficients are checked for altitude(pressure and/or temperature) dependence. In the case of both IFC-1 and-5 the calibration coefficients were averaged for all legs in the well-mixed layer for a given mission since little altitude dependence was noted for the slope of the calibration curve(which is important to the estimation of the moisture flux). 2, record 13, English, - moisture%20flux

Tenderness and radiation of pain or tingling sensation caused by pressing with the thumb when examining the contour of the lumbar spine and checking for local tenderness. If pain radiates down the leg on eliciting this tenderness, it is a reliable sign of root compression at that level. If this does not occur immediately and pressure is maintained, the patient may then begin to complain of paraesthesiae, tingling or even pain in the appropriate radiation. 2, record 15, English, - doorbell%20sign
