Record 2 2015-06-15

English

Subject field(s)
  • Fencing
DEF

The basic attacking move toward an opponent consisting in a full extension of the arm followed by a wide step forward of the foot on the same side as the sword arm (front foot) while keeping the other foot (rear foot) in place.

CONT

The lunge is a sudden attack on an opponent. The back leg is used for power. First, you swiftly extend your sword arm so that your foil is thrust straight at the target. In the next split second, you lift your front leg forward.

OBS

The lunge is an aggressive action designed to enable the fencer to reach the opponent from a distance greater than that afforded by extension of the weapon arm.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Escrime
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Bones and Joints
DEF

The external semilunar cartilage of the knee.

CONT

The knee has two cartilage disks, called menisci, that are attached to the top portion of the tibia(the large lower leg bone). The lateral meniscus is located on the outer side of the knee joint, and the medial meniscus is on the inner side. These two wedge-shaped discs form a cradle for the cartilage covered condyles of the femur. The minisci absorb shock, and serve to cushion the knee. An injury to a meniscus may take the form of a small or large tear, a split in the disk, or a frayed or roughly torn area.

A sideways handspring in which the hands and feet touch the ground one at a time.

CONT

In doing the cartwheel it’s important to think of it as a sideways rather than a forward movement. It is helpful to think of yourself as a wheel with the arms and legs as the spokes.

OBS

... stand with your side to the mat, kick the left leg upward, and place it forward as the weight is taken on the left hand and then on the right. The arms are straight and shoulder-distance apart. Split the legs in the air. Land on the right foot and then the left foot as the body ends facing in the original position.... This should be done in and even 4-count rhythm.

Once the new annex is up and operational, the two new phases will be split to handle processing on one side and shipping on the other. A new detached office will be built to handle customer relations, and the scale driveway will extended from its current 100 feet to 140. The driveway extension will take place first, said Borgen, which will necessitate the B-train trucks to use trackside loading while that takes place. There will also be an increased head drive on the existing leg, and an additional shipping leg will be added in Phase II. An eventual goals as well is to locate the Pool' s farm service centre at the elevator, moving it out of the city, said Sanders.
