Another problem involving the use of words is the question of "conditional assault". If one person points a gun at another and says, "Your money or your life!", it might be argued that it is not assault because the plaintiff may avoid any harm by complying with the condition and parting with his money. It could be contended that the requirement of immediacy is absent. Such an argument is fallacious, however, for one cannot impose conditions upon another, when one has no legal right to do so. It would be otherwise of a landowner said to a trespasser, "Get off my land or I’ll throw you off, "for in such a case, the landowner is only threatening to do what he is entitled to do anyway. 1, record 4, English, - conditional%20assault

2, record 4, French, - voies%20de%20fait%20conditionnelles

Although the term "legal mortgage" is inappropriate to a mortgage under the land titles system and is not in fact in common use, the term "equitable mortgage", which under the old system is used in contradistinction to a legal mortgage, is under the new system commonly used to indicate a mortgage or charge other than a registered or statutory mortgage. Under the old system any mortgage subsequent to a legal mortgage is necessarily an equitable mortgage, but under the new system a second mortgage is of the same nature as a first mortgage. In other respects, however, the ordinary rules as to equitable mortgages prevail under the land titles system. Thus, an equitable mortgage may be created by an agreement to execute a mortgage or to charge money on land or by deposit of documents of title.(Falconbridge on Mortgages, 1977, 4th ed., s. 10. 11) 2, record 10, English, - registered%20mortgage

1, record 45, French, - avoir%20pouvoir%20lib%C3%A9ratoire%20limit%C3%A9

Currency on hand at banks(vault cash) plus money that banks have in their accounts at Federal Reserve banks(reserve balances). Even though these items are not counted as part of the nation's money supply, they are called high powered money because these items constitute the legal reserves which in turn determines how much can be created in demand deposits, and they are the major component of our money supply. 1, record 46, English, - high%20powered%20money

The main function of legal reserve requirements is not that of making deposits safe and liquid, payable on demand. What, then, is it? Their vital function is to enable the Federal Reserve authorities to control the amount of demand deposits-or bank money-that the member banks can create. By imposing fixed legal reserve requirements, the Fed can limit the growth of bank deposits. 1, record 49, English, - legal%20reserve%20requirement
