A leaky feeder cable also know as a "radiating cable" is an alternative to a traditional network of RF [radio frequency] antennas. Comparatively, a normal feeder cable is what is used to connect a repeater to an antenna and is designed to trap a signal within the cable and inhibit any other interfering signals penetrating the cable. In contrast, a leaky feeder cable is specially designed to "leak" signal out of the cable in a controlled manner. Simultaneously, the leaky feeder cable will allow a controlled amount of signal to penetrate the length of the cable. 4, record 2, English, - leaky%20feeder%20cable

In the case of number of dry days in a season, only two subregions... are shown[. A longer rainy season generally experiences both a greater absolute and relative frequency of wet days. The Doppler effect on sound waves is experienced in everyday life. When an ambulance passes us, the siren appears to change its note. As it approaches, the pitch is high. As it passes us, the pitch falls. The effect occurs with any type of waves, including light. In the case of sound the effect was described by Christian Andreas Doppler (1803-1853), while for the light it was observed by Armand Fizeau (1819-1896). That’s why sometimes the effect is called the Doppler-Fizeau effect. 5, record 14, English, - Doppler%20effect

Effet Doppler.

This article briefly describes the PRRS(porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome), which arose in the winter of 1990 in Germany and other European countries... The clinical picture of this new disease, which led to important economical losses is dominated by 1. an increased rate of reduced length of pregnancy with late abortion before day 110 or an increased length of pregnancy; 2. an increase in stillborn piglets; 3. a larger scale of preweaning mortality combined with a higher frequency of secondary infections... Pathological findings in piglets are subcutaneous edema, accumulation of fluids in the body cavities and sometimes interstitial pneumonia is observed... At present a non-classified virus, isolated by Dutch researchers is proposed to be the causative agent and named Lelystad virus. 4, record 19, English, - porcine%20reproductive%20and%20respiratory%20syndrome

The frequency at which a sound wave incident upon a surface has a projected wavelength equal to the length of the bending wave excited in the surface material. The effect of this "trace matching" is a marked reduction in the sound transmission loss in the frequency region in which this occurs. The frequency is a function of the angle at which the sound impinges on the surface, the surface weight, and bending stiffness of the surface. 2, record 23, English, - coincidence%20frequency

Another measure of frequency is the period of a wave. It is the length of time it takes for the wave to complete one cycle. Period is obtained by dividing one second by the number of cycles per second(frequency). Metering pumps move precise volumes of liquid in a specified time period to provide accurate flow rates. This class of pumps moves liquids in two stages : the suction stroke and the discharge stroke. During the suction stroke, liquid is pulled into the pump cavity past the inlet check valve. During the discharge stroke, the inlet valve closes; the outlet valve opens, and the liquid is pushed out. Vary the flow either by changing the stroke length or by adjusting the cycle frequency. Described below are a few types of metering pumps [i. e. ] bellows pumps,... diaphragm pumps,... piston pumps,... travelling cylinder pumps... 5, record 38, English, - metering%20pump

The laser gyro need not be mechanically dithered. The same result may be achieved by optical devices. A Faraday cell is a piece of crystal, which changes the phase of a light wave traveling through it as a function of an applied magnetic field. The effect is nonreciprocal. A light beam traveling in one direction is advanced in phase, while a light beam traveling in the other direction is retarded in phase. Reversing the magnetic field reverses the effect. Changing the phase of the light beam has the same effect on frequency as changing the path length.

4, record 41, French, - faisceau%20de%20lumi%C3%A8re%20contra%2Drotatif

Optoacoustic detector. Light which is absorbed by a molecule is generally reradiated from the molecule in the form of heat. If a laser, at an absorbing wavelength of a gas of interest, is passed through a closed cell, the temperature of the entire gas in the cell will rise and thus the pressure of the gas in the cell will rise. If the laser is turned on and off at a frequency of 100-20000 Hz, the resulting pressure rises and drops can be picked up as a signal by sensitive microphones. This somewhat odd combination of optics and acoustics turns out to have several advantages over systems which measure the absorption directly. The absorption will be quite small and thus the change in intensity of the laser beam is nearly impossible to detect. Because pressure in the cell rises more quickly for small length cells, this effect exactly cancels out gains in overall absorption by making the cell longer. Thus, a small optoacoustic cell will accomplish the same as a larger cell making its size a great asset.... The device is being tested as a sniffer for bomb vapours and for ambient air analyses. 1, record 50, English, - optoacoustic%20detector

We have seen that the distance between "pro A" and "ade" on the E. coli chromosome is equivalent to about 45 percent recombination, so that these markers appear as only weakly linked in recombination analysis. The Rohde & Schwarz active rod antenna HE010 allows a sensitivity which is near the theoretical maximum even for small atmospheric-noise figures. The antenna, only 1 m in length, operates in the frequency range 10 KHz to 80 MHz, is largely immune to noise signals, has two isolated outputs and is therefore able to feed two receiving paths in wideband operation without reducing the sensitivity. The study mechanical construction of glassfibre-reinforced polyester and the wide voltage range from 18 to 35 V make the rod antenna particularly suitable for mobile use. 1, record 54, English, - active%20rod%20antenna
